Thank God he didn’t go for that question. $468000 would’ve been an absolutely devastating loss (I think it only ever happened once and it was on the more recent version when Regis returned for the anniversary version or something, the guy was so cocky too). RIP Regis, you are very missed. Definitely my favourite host this show ever had. His charisma always brought the entertainment just as much as the game itself.

@@Mr.NoName1972 That was Ken Basin in the 10th anniversary special edition in 2009, pretty sure he was the last contestant of the anniversary special. Sad that we didn't get to see it finish with a top prize winner (it was also the very last episode Regis ever hosted). It reminds me of when Norm Macdonald (RIP) was the last contestant of the celebrity edition in 2000 and he had the right answer but ended up taking the $500k so the celeb edition didn't get to finish with the first ever celebrity million dollar winner.

Also I'm now realizing how lucky Gary is that the $2000 question asked for the character after http, and not after the colon, because he said it was a backslash when it is in fact a forward slash. He would have gotten that one wrong (unless it was different back in 2001, I was too young to remember for sure). How different everything may have turned out because of that.

One of the people who invented the V Chip said it was intended to stand for Viewer Control. Though a representative that supposedly coined the term said it stood for violence so that was a very sloppy question. Depending on the source both are said to be correct.

They brought back a bunch of people who were given faulty questions. He should have sent in a letter, Ed Toutant sent in a polite letter asking for a check on the question and got an invite back, he went on to win 1860000 after first leaving with 1000. @Computerman859 Жыл бұрын
To me, as written this was a bad question. As aired, the contestant who had that question could have returned at a later time like several other contestants did; however if he selected B or C, the game would have been over for him anyway. Two people provided separate opinions on what the V stands for. Ed Markey thinks it means violence; Tim Collins (someone who helped with inventing the VCHIP) says the V meant viewer control.
@occono3543 Жыл бұрын
WWTBAM did bring back a bunch of people who were given faulty questions, it was all polite and professional. Ed Toutant came back after the rollover but with his rollover jackpot per his contract, and he managed to win it, so they ended up giving out two rollover jackpots of 4 million combined. Too late now, but someone should have sent in a letter for the V chip guy, it got other contestants back on the show with a polite apology and invite back.
