I really love how this entire sountrack, just like the contestants, is a series of progression. 1. It starts in Fastest Fingers First, with a little ambient tune, followed with the bare synth of the Correct Answer reveal. 2. We have the $100 to $1,000 questions, which adds the choir to the bare synth. 3. The upbeat music ends, and replacing it, starting at $2,000 is a soft ambient tune with a dark base and heartbeat, but the final instrument still has that sense of hope, and as the chord gets higher, the hope increases. 4. When we get to $64,000, we pass the final checkpoint, and the chord resets, and the tune becomes far more dreary. The game is now invoking the true sense of fear that it's known for. That instrument that ones gave hope is now more dark and foreboding. 5. When you think the final question has a combination of everything, it instead does the exact opposite, and gets rid of everything except a low sounding instrument and a heartbeat. You are at the very peak of the mountain, you've gone all the way, and all of that hype you had early on is now replaced with dread. This question is what makes you a millionaire, or a dejected $32,000 winner. And that's not even inclusing all the jingles the game has. More shows should have this sense of progression, but I guess that's what makes this show's soundtrack so unique and timeless.

The soundtrack for every single stage of the game reflects incredibly well each and every stage of the game. Not just the background sound, but also the winning and (especially) losing sounds. - $100-$1000 is just the introduction to the game proper. A tutorial of sorts. Wins don't mean much; you're just getting started. If you pull off a Llama... welp. You lost the game before it started. It's not the end of the world, but it's just... disappointing. Checkpoints are obviously big wins; first checkpoint, you're guaranteed a reward. - $2000-$32000 is the midgame. The real game has begun. Winning now means something. Losing also means a lot more, now that you're actually in the game proper. Losing at the $32000 question is an especially bad beat, so the "lose" sound for that particular question stands out. Reach the second checkpoint, you're now guaranteed what would be a winner's prize in just about any other game show. - $64000-$500000. You're now at the lategame. You're looking at potential life-changing opportunities. Heart is pounding, tension is at its peak. All wins are now enormous amounts of money; a more than worthy reward on their own. You lose, and you leave with your $32000 (hence why they "lose" sound is the same as in the $2000-$32000 stage). - Then, the $1000000 question. It's now or never. If you win, you have truly done it; you're now a Millionaire. If you lose... it's the bad ending. You foolishly went for it without knowing, lost your chance, and also lost the chance to walk away with half a million. Probably the one weird thing is that the "out of time" klaxon is the second most terrifying sound of the entire soundtrack. Like, seriously; what the hell?

You know. I actually think the music getting scarier and scarier was beautiful. If you buy a scratchcard or a lottery ticket or use a slot machine, you're being dazzled by bright colours and happy thoughts and endorphins. Being in the hot seat, you were given none of that. You were needled by the music, to think carefully, think about the money, and to know what you're doing. I honestly think the scary music on WWTBAM was.......fair, in a beautiful way. You get through the music, you know you're okay with having risked and when you get home or you KNOW that you know the answer, and you can become a millionaire. It's beautiful. It's fair. I think on balance, more people won more money than they would have if the music told them not to stress about it.

This is coming back to TV in April but Jimmy Kimmel (The host of his own show on ABC) is hosting this for the 20th Anniversary of the US version of Millionaire if they are going to use this or the new music from the syndication version which ended in 2019. I hope that they use the music from the Original Millionaire (UK version). But the US version is not owned by Sony since they bought 2waytraffic and Disney owns of the US version through Vallycrest and Disney-ABC Home Entertainment and Television Distribution and Sony (the owners of Millionare)

Glitchmaster That’s good and also Disney-ABC is not doing the revival but Sony is, the owners of Millionaire with the original creator Michael Davies back on the show since he departed from the syndicated version in 2010. Embassy Row and Sony will be doing the production of the revival. Disney-ABC did the original ABC airing and the syndicated version till 2019. I think the set will look like the UK version that was used when the guy who was on the BBC car show replaced the original host of the UK version. The lifelines will be the same like Fifty Fifty, Phone a Friend, and Audience vote. But since the virus thing I think that these episodes were pre recorded before the virus happen so that they can air them on ABC.

Also some tracks are taken from some other users, ie; the 2,000 let's play theme and say goodbye to contestant because no one else has them.

The original UK show had a soundtrack CD release by the Strachans back in 1999 or 2000. IIRC it was actually a best selling album in the UK for at least a week. I think my memory may be faulty, but I know it goes for £100 on ebay. Lots of people bought it for pub quizzes.
