Many of these men she just starred in the same picture as, except for the psychiatrist Dotti who was really just a poor substitute for the real love of her life Mel Ferrer. At her Funeral Mel Ferrer was broken up and in tears he knew he'd allowed his inflated and wounded ego to botch up their marriage.I personally hope he is still suffering.

Mel was not the true love of her life. I personally believe she never found mr. right, but came close to it with Robert and Holden. But, yes, having read numerous books about it, many ppl said that Mel was very controlling and treated her like a child. Having just broke things off with Holden, she was in a vulnerable state and understandably heartbroken (she really fell for Holden) and despite knowing this, Mel swooped in with his newly filed divorce papers and seized the opportunity to “swoon” her. I read that she was even hesitant to marry him because she knew of his history for being divorced multiple times and also having 4 other kids. I guess he pressured her enough that she finally caved in, but I believe it was because she thought he gave good career advice (which I personally don’t think is accurate given his own failed career and the roles he recommended for her to do like green mansions and the unforgiven).

LC I believe Audrey was first attracted to Mel on seeing him in “Lili”.His performance in that gem of a movie displayed a vulnerability that was compatible with Audrey’s and that’s what I mean by their looking right together.None of us knows the whole truth.

I read in a book that he wanted to date her but I don’t think the affection was returned on her end. Besides, I also read that Peter had a bet with a friend that involved him sleeping with countless famous women, so his “love” for her wouldn’t have been genuine. Peter was quite the womanizer, read up on it if you want.
