One of the mysteries surrounding the Royal Cemetery of Ur is the identity of the occupants of the tombs, the sequence of their reigns, and their relationships with each other. Dr. Miano provides an overview of the issues involved.

I postulate that he received Anonymous guidance from an Elite member of The Shadow government whose membership is, at least partially comprised of technologically advanced alien life forms possessing higher IQ and therefore exponentially greater capacity for logical deduction and acute comprehension of the futility of intuitive reasoning end speculative fantasy.

Fascinating stuff. One of my favourite kind of archeological mysteries, one where we have a lot of clues, dates and names and the answers seem to be just within reach. @@jackholman5008 I can’t speak to what happened during the first few years of the war, but there was no looting or destruction while I was there. It just seemed like what I’ve seen in videos of a tourist site in Egypt or something. The zigurat, excavated tombs, walls from the old buildings that had been partially rebuilt, etc. The area wasn’t inside the gates of the main base, but in an exterior area controlled by the military. It didn’t look like there was any active archeology taking place, just trusted locals who managed it and gave tours that we paid for.

I recall once upon a time traveling through that neighborhood of Tallil - but we did not hang around too long as we were "passing through" as it were...... 😋 Glad you were okay. p.s. - that area of Iraq is Shia tribal land in the south. The looting as alluded to took place in areas under ISIS control which were the Sunni tribal areas as well as some of the Kurdish zone in the north.

The thing that gets me is the tombs death pits have so many retainers in them, it's very bizarre to see a Jones town type sacrifices. They drank potion with their own cups, from a cauldron found. I always thought that the human sacrifice during burials were more so the fact these people were the possessions of the royal being buried just like his favorite chair or jewelry and if the tradition is you get to be buried with everything you own well then if you own some soldiers, workers or attendants they get buried to with their owner unless somehow it was specified by the Royal that their services have ended but if he royal had a surprise or sudden death then there wouldn't have been time for him to release anyone.

I am so glad that I found your channel. You offer rationality counter to the insanity that runs amok with wild theories concerning this region. Ur is symbolic to most learned minds. How about a delve into Urkesh? Have you learned anything about the findings at Tel Mozan? Tel Mozan is near the Huraan where Abraham is said to have migrated to after he fled Ur. Is not the fertile crescent so fertile for thought? I love your work. Thank you....(remember the name Tel Mozan. it is obscure but aught not be. It is not far from the plateau of Anatolia, near to Qamishli on the Syrian border...it sits abruptly on the Mesopotamian flat land) Remember, it is said that Abraham fled Ur because his father wanted to sacrifice him...and in turn "God said, take Isaac, thy son, and slay him in on Mnt. Moria in my name" Irony is fun too

80 years of ruling is a bit suspicious long, or do they mean he lived 80 years? It is not impossible he was king that long, particularly if he father died when he was really young and the regent doesn't count but it still seem unlikely. Or did they mix in his father reign in there too in a later clergical error? Otherwise it should be relatively easy to figure out if that un-named grave is his because I don't think skeletons over 80 years old was very common even among the elite at the time. It is certainly an interesting site, the only older royal graves we have are a few in Egypt like Pharaoh Scorpions grave and all we found there so far have been plundered way back. At least the only we are certain of were royal tombs (and yeah, the evidence for them being royal graves and not belonging to religious officials are pretty overwhelming).

So why were people sacrificed and buried in lieu of the actual kings, etc...? Did I understand that correctly...? This is a 'new' thing...? Is it seen in other cultures...?
@WorldofAntiquity
@WorldofAntiquity 2 ай бұрын
Assyrians did this. They left us some records talking about it. Whenever there was a bad omen about the health or life of the king, they would replace him with a substitute, kill the substitute, and cancel out the bad prophecy.

@@WorldofAntiquity hmmm... Did it work...? According to them of course... ALSO-- major kudos to you for your channel... I like the informal, conversational flow of your narrative, but you don't sacrifice cogency and scholarship... I HATE when channels have a jokey, flippant tone; they're NEVER funny or outrageous and I just click away...

@@Chase_baker_1996 You have been scammed. There are a group of Tamils (among others) who want to think that they were the first civilisation. Although we might never know who was the very first, it's glaringly obvious that Sumer was the first large scale one, with Assyria close behind. There is NO EVIDENCE for Tamil being the first at all. But don't take my word for it. You should NEVER believe anyone in the comment section of any video, on anything! Only trust the real scientists associated with accreditted universities and historical associations. I see this claim by Tamils fairly often in comments, but it is entirely untrue.

Flint Dibble vs Graham Hancock was a good debate. Dibble did well and the entire thing was very informative but once again Hancock had the more compelling arguments and *EVIDENCE* of lost technology and civilizations. It's time for old school archeologists to stop being so pompous and start trying to find answers.

So you seem to believe that "you" decide what is supposed historical fact or nor - based upon nothing more than your subjective perception of a debate on a podcast no less = really........ 🤦 I guess by your "logic" here and approach to science and answering questions that lollipops fall from the sky if someone on YT claims thusly in a manner you find compelling and are willing to believe it.......... 🤣🤷 kzbin.info/www/bejne/mKbJhaGXZbx0qMUsi=lrkuEDKS-AEDgBXA

so, human sacrifice a standard practice on all continents except Europe and Antarctica?
@srenette82
@srenette82 2 ай бұрын
Human sacrifice was not standard practice in Mesopotamia, the Royal Tombs of Ur are in many ways exceptional, not standard. Meanwhile, there are plenty of documented cases of human sacrifice in Europe during the Bronze and Iron Age, as well as the Middle Ages (witch burnings are a form of human sacrifice).

Lol what you think gladiators are doing it's human sacrifice not for some divine duty but for mere fun of population. Many thousands of humans, animals are killed for fun of people in roam.
