Man! We really needed you in 2024 if you made it this far. I'd like to think Rock would be healthy if he was still here.

Excellent! One correction, though, for accuracy. The photo at 10:50 is not Tobi Vail. However, she is a note-worthy figure in Grunge History. That is Carrie Montgomery, sister of Nirvana Soundboard Tech Craig Montgomery. Carrie was Mudhoney's Mark Arm's girlfriend. There is a story of Kurt hanging out with Carrie while Arm was away on tour. After much badgering, she let Kurt come over to their apartment. Kurt went through Mark Arm's notebooks and found the phrase: "Sweet young thing ain't sweet no more" and that influenced Kurt to come up with the ending lyric for Negative Creep which goes "Daddy's little girl ain't a girl no more"

This was a good video but from a Gen Xer and Nirvana fan, Kurt wasn't some special one-off tragic tortured genius, it wasn't this dramatic. He was very anti-special, and that is why he was so well-liked. He wasn't an outlier, he was your sterotypical Gen X in the early 90s (at least my little circle of Gen X). Everyone makes his life prior to his death sound so dramatic and he was very normal ...just typical Gen X...he wasn't even the only musician to die young. I swear it was probably safer to be a drug dealer than it was to be the lead singer of a Gen X band. That career path was a death sentence for a lot of really awesome people.
