@@HenryAbramsonPhD Thank you professor abramson for this very imformative video this man Raphael seems to have been a very fascinating man he deffantly saw alot in his life,ive heard the word genocide came out of the slaughter of armenians but i didnt know it was a jewish intellectual who helped created the word during that time,thanks for the website you posted about this attack that triggered this confilct,i know the world is accusing israel was war crimes and now that same word is being used against israel ,i see it as hope you respect my view i believe Hamas should be removed how its being done im concerned about as leveling homes and other places of worship and using intense military force on civilian populated areas isnt the best way in my view in rooting out this terroist group,i also feel and i heard the israeli pm mentioned this to a guy online whose becoming more domiant Elon musk ,that they needs to be a deradiclization programme in that region too much extremist ideology is being taught to young persons inGaza as well and to me the real enemy in this thats sponsering this terroism is 🇮🇷Persia our Iran as they fund and help sponser Hamas and Hezbollah in lebanon,that Iranian regime has to be removed in my opinon in order for real peace to be in that region they are people who are opposed to the iraninan regime that are iraninans but that shia theoratic gov so so strong removing it is a real problem its been there since the fall of the sha in 79 waaaaaay before i was born a very complicated conflict israel is facing i Stand with You lets all keep our prayers and thiughts that the remaining Hostages will be set free and returned to their families 🕊🎉🎉🙏🙏💯

Perhaps I've already said it too many times but my grandparents survived two german occupations and their stories are still a source of inspiration for me now. What were their experiences? Dreadful at times but mostly that every human being and nation has a good and a bad side. It's when the bad is winning the eternal struggle that's when mere words are told as if they'll do miracles to undo the bad actions. The Allies did bomb Dresden and all the baroque treasures there and surrounding areas to rubble, but they never withheld nationhood to the German people

Superb as usual. I would suggest adding more comparative context to make it a stand alone presentation. Examples of clear cut genocides vs military conflicts. Mechanism of DeNazification of Germany and Japan. Demographics of past and current Gaza, West Bank and Israeli Arabs. Also useful to have some numbers and ratios of civilian losses in modern military conflicts. Highlights of exceptional IDF efforts to protect civilians. And most importantly understanding that Israel is not a dictatorship so many people have a voice. Policy has to be judged by results not rhetoric.

@allisonhermann4973

The USC Shoah Foundation was founded by Steven Spielberg to record testimonies of Holocaust survivors and witnesses. It is beyond contemplation that they would be continuing the project into the 21st century with the victims and witnesses of the October 7th 2023 atrocities! The painful part is hearing their testimonies delivered in flat and lifeless voices. You hear what life was like before October 7th, and a retelling of their experiences on the 7th, but you hear their uncertainty about the future. One of the major issues of these testimonies is the fear that they won't be believed. There are the survivors of rape who most likely would never be recorded, but there are witnesses who are letting the world know that these horrific events occurred. There is much more needed here then a "healing process." Lives and whole communities were destroyed. @@HenryAbramsonPhD

I think the term "genocide" means an attempt to eradicate a specific ethnic group, solely because of its ethnicity, and for no other reason. In this it differs from mass (or nuclear) bombing of certain locations during war with massive loss of human lives involved. An example of genocide outside of Shoah is the Rwandan genocide of 1994 in which government Hutu militias murdered over half a million of Tutsis. Now, the Dresden, Hiroshima, and Nagasaki bombings, also bombings of Hamburg and Tokyo, they were all military operations with justifiable strategic and tactical goals. Suffice to point out that the two nuclear bombs dropped on Japan forced Japan's unconditional surrender and saved a million of American lives that would have been lost in a planned invasion of the country. In turn Dresden was a major railway hub through which resources were being transported to the Eastern front. The bombing was requested by the Red Army.

I'm not a linguist but I always thought the term genoctony of Greeks and Armenians in Greek preceded the term genocide of the Jews during WWII For which by the way we have a very special and unique word , olokaftoma or holocaust. However I have two Semiunrelated questions. A.. Why Are there Palestinian refugees and UNWRA Today. Why those Arabs got a special UN branch When the jews who were expelled from the Arabic countries at the same time did not get their own UN branch or are not considered refugees today. My grandparents were refugees and by the end of their lives they did not call themselves refugees ,neither did my parents And certainly not I B why Jordan did not take the West bank back in the 70s. You have already explained Egypt and Gaza

There is a jarring anachronism in the film "Killers of the Flower Moon" in which one of the Osage chiefs uses the term "Genocide" in reference to the systematic murder of Osages by whites in the early 1920's

One percent death toll is not genocide. Palestine population increased five times since 48. Israel provides free all infrastructure in gaza. Palestinians can work, afford medical treatment and study in israelians universities. Ridiculous how many academic people behaving just like soccer club supporters. This conflict doesn't fullfill any definition of genocide. Thanks from Brazil and stands with Israel.

Israel is not blamed by starvation in rest of world. Its hamas fault that Palestinians needs desperately search work in Israel. Israel supplies free water, fuel, gaz, medical supplies and medical treatment inside Israel. Iam not denying Palestinians suffering but is ridiculous you blame Israel for everything wrong in world.
