Sir I ask that you not tire of my commentaries. This elderly gentleman enjoys you video lectures on English pugulism and past great practicioners hugely. As I am slowly recovering from Arterial Fibrillation, it brings joy to heart, no pun intended of course. Thank you for your belated Christmas gift. And my New Year has started well indeed.👊👍

I would like to see that video because I'm thinking of making videos on KZbin as well. If money is my motivation I might find myself stressed out... I may have to approach this as a hobby.

Well I would perhaps hedge my bets on George Taylor, or a long shot maybe Bob Whitaker the man who defeated the Venetian Gondolier may have also been considered champion.

Hey, can you do a video over viewing knees in the clinch in historical sources including armored fighting, civilian fencing, boxing, and wrestling? I'm wondering if knees were as ubiquitous then across styles as they are today.

Maybe you need to mix in lower effort videos like training sessions once a week. You still get your daily upload, but you don't have to edit much. The algorithm is a strange mystic. So this may be bad advice .

Yup - if you can - do a video on the use of KZbin- where it works and where it fails - I think it would be good for us your followers to know what an effort it must be and - by the sound of it - how poor the return is..

Unless you’re massive, AdSense on KZbin just won’t cut it in general. You probably should be selling things to viewers and opening ways to donate money where possible. The reality is that purely “being a KZbinr” isn’t really a think for 99% of content creators. KZbin is really just kind of the advertisement arm of a small business for most people making a living on the platform. Which, understandably, many people don’t like or feel comfortable doing. But for what it’s worth, at least just on my secondhand knowledge, you should be approaching enough subscribers now where a shop and the like should be profitable. Maybe not “quit your job” profitable, but well on its way.

Champion of what exactly? In those times a prizefighter could've been a swordsman, not necessarily a boxer or wrestler. They were martial artists, not particularly boxers. Personally I have no problem believing Figg to be the "first" because so many people including Broughton went through him. He was the best known, most publicized, and was not defeated for basically 20 years, even though his matches were a mixed blend of disciplines. That being said, if we are to argue who was the first pure boxer who relied mostly on fisticuffs then it must be Jem Mace. Jesus Christ Almighty God bless you all

This video is asking who was the first champion of England in boxing specifically, though you are right that prize fighters were often referred to as champions. But to use Figg as an example, he never claimed to be, or was not spoken of, as Champion of England, Instead, he was known as the Oxonian Champion. At this time, the title of Champion of England seems to have been reserved exclusively for the current head of the Dymoke family. Tom Johnson is the first boxer to officially adopt the title, but as Oz said, there is another contender worth discussing. After Johnson, the title passed from one fighter to another via the winning of fights, whereas before him any serious fighter could be called a champion and didn't necessarily loose that titled when defeated.
