I'm still shocked that there hasn't been any interest from Hollywood for a movie, or better yet a series, about Ching Shih. I know why China would never do one, but why the hell wouldn't Netflix? You wouldn't even need to exaggerate _anything_ about her life for dramatic effect.

Oh my I have a chance to suggest some additional reading! Graine Mhaol! (There is no way I spelled that right. XD) She was an Irish pirate who ALSO ended up passing away of old age. Notable accomplishments include: Having tea with Queen Elizabeth the 1st, and walking away from the meeting as a British Privateer Eloping into a life of piracy in the first place And sneaking into a noble manor to steal their son away in the middle of the night because they had not given her a place at the dinner table when she showed up unannounced. Best part about this is that she actually knew these people, so the kid basically got to spend the night with Auntie Mhaol and her drunken frat boys. XD

Disney was the (or at least one of the) greatest pirates of all time. No, not Pirates of the Caribbean, I mean the tactics they use to make more money while screwing their performers (like Robin Williams and Scarlet Johansson). How they make arbitrary or just senseless changes that make franchises lose fans. How almost no film they have released is their original creation. The price of tickets vs the time you will spend waiting for a ride at DL/DW or other resorts. How they try to choke out competitors by releasing similar films before (A Bug's Life vs Antz) or they bribe/buyout areas where a competitor's filming or recording is going to take place. Many many more examples...
@peterpeterson4800

You should have mentioned Olivier Le Vasseur, a.k.a. La Buse. In 1720, he pulled off one of the most amazing acts of piracy, when he captured a Portugese ship at the island of Reunion near Madagaskar, loaded with gold and other valuables that are estimated to be worth around 5 BILLION € today. One of these treasures was a 100 kilo gold cross that was inlaid with diamonds and other gems. When he was eventually captured in 1729, but before he was hanged, on the way to the gallows, he told the guards that he could buy this Island with what he has hidden here. Then at the gallows, he threw an encrypted message into the crowd and said "My treasure to who can understand it". That's one of those stories that sound too fantastical to be true. Like something out of a book that would never happen in real life. His treasure was never found. But maybe one of his crewmates snatched it up, because he couldn't have hidden such a large treasure by himself, with the one gold cross alone being way too heavy.
