Love how the controllers are straight up Legion GO controllers (even uses the same attachment rail) but worse, since they don't have the track pad or any other unique features of it, but inherit all the downsides, like the horrendous ergonomics In fact the shell is almost identical too, just larger, yet somehow having only slightly more than half the battery size lmao

If the price was lower and the battery life better... and the fan curve wasn't atrocious, it might have a place as a thin client for moonlight. But even then I'm not a fan of the joycon style controllers. Man, i just wish the PS Portal could install Moonlight. If it did I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

I bought a refurb 256gb steam deck for $319 a year ago because I wanted to see if handhelds fit my needs & didn’t want to jump in at $700, that’s pretty much where I’d say the performance floor is for a usable handheld. I’d say even full price it’s a WAY better value than this. What can’t play natively I stream from my gaming pc. Why *anyone* would consider a chip with as little graphical capability as the N95 for any resolution higher than 480p boggles my mind.
@CraftComputingКүн бұрын
480P is even generous. I tried Skyrim at 960x640 and it was still struggling to hit 30 FPS at low settings.

Someone in China looked funny at a laptop and a low-power mini PC and said, "Imma make a handheld gaming thingy from those babies." That's what this is. I did just think of a valid use case for this: A trade show kiosk device. Sure you've got power to your exhibitor booth, but want to transport something small, light, and compact that is basically just a digital display and has a backup battery just in case the power fails at the venue for some reason. The odd power dongle all but guarantees it won't get stolen when your back is turned for two seconds. This device weirdly checks all of those boxes. It checks _none_ of the video gamer vibe boxes though.

I find this on odd. Not just everything you mention but going to the site. Why do they list the storage as PCIE? Do they even know what ports they have? One of the pictures shows the ports. They marked the SD card slot as a USB C port, then they inverted the headphone jack and power. On The site they also have an AMD version “upcoming” they should have waited to send you that one….

I think the dev aimed for gaming but, in heart, they aimed for on-site diagnostic tools... That looks like something a technician/engineer would bring to a remote site for troubleshooting. Add a serial port and maybe a small keyboard. Boom a nice diagnostic computer.

I actually use my Switch as a remote gaming device. I have Moonlight set up for both local and remote connection in Horizon OS, and also dual boot Android on it. In Android I can just run Parsec, Steam Link, or anything else really that will run on Android 10. The joycons, wifi and bluetooth all work. The only issue I've had with it is that the wifi adapter is a little slow.

the only 2 use cases I could think of would be maybe steam link (if the performance is there) or for automotive diagnostics software. I actually bought a 2nd legion go to use for all my tuning software but realistically I wish the screen was bigger and it's way overkill for the task of automotive programming so that would actually be the 1 good use case for that device that I could come up with.

Honestly really hard to justify going for this even for remote gaming and emulation when there are a plethora of android based handhelds that'll do that for the same or less price as long as you're fine with a smaller screen. I mean the Odin 2 Portal just came out at the same price point and that has a 7" 1080p 120hz OLED screen and much better battery life. Hell, with as good as winlator is getting it probably has about the same capacity to play PC games as well. Definitely an interesting device, but feels like a miss on basically every front.
