The Germanic (also Germanic or Barbarian) peoples are a group of tribes that conquered most of western and central Europe in the fifth century AD, contributing to the end of the Western Roman Empire. The Romans called foreigners barbarians, that is, those who were outside the boundaries of the Empire. The Slavs, from the Russian steppes and the Germans, from Central Europe stand out. The Germans were Indo-European, tall, with blue eyes and white skin, distinguished by their personal value.
