Morocco has a mixture of Arab, African, Berber and French cultures. The majority of the people practice Islam and speak a few different languages. All Moroccans, especially some of the Berbers do not consider themselves to be Arab. DNA studies show the modern day Berbers have around 30% Near Eastern DNA and around 12% Sub- Saharan African DNA. Some may also have some European DNA due to days of colonialism and admixture.

I know everyone else said this. But the moors weren’t black for the majority. The term Moor isn’t supposed to be a label for a specific race or even ethnic group. It’s just something you’d be called back then if you were of Islamic faith. Usually the term was used for Arabs, Amazigh’s, or Muslim Europeans. And most of the Moors were definitely not black. A lot of them were actually light skinned. If you take the example of the spreading of Islam from the Arabs. You’d see why. Cause Arabs are not black. And as for the Amazigh who became mostly Muslim. For the most part they weren’t black either. Except for the southern Amazigh. Which they didn’t have much to do with Iberia, because of how far away it was. Iberia would have likely had mostly light skinned moors when Al-Andalus existed if you take all these factors into account. And before you say I don’t know what I’m talking about. I’m actually of moorish ancestry myself. Partially anyway. My moorish family members are mostly light skinned. Of course there were a few exceptions like my grandfather who was of dark skin tone. if you tell me, that some black africans are moors because originally they mere North West Africans, Moors. and have intermixed with the afroamerican community through the last decade i'm fine with it, but applying the moorish background to all afroamericans is just sad, so so sad, if the moors are black, why subsaharians dont speak the language? exceot for the Tuaregs who are indeed nomad moors that have because of the lifestyle intermarried with populations of south Mauretania Mali etc, you have dialects like Hassaniya or Tamasheq that are a proof of that. now if you afrioamericans want to connect with your real backgrounds, i'd suggest to first do a dna test, to narrow it down to few countries, you'll probably love learning mandinke or bambara or wollof etc

That's all it is. Those so-called "black moors" are nothing but army of slaves that are ruled and ordered by their Arab Omayyad masters. Iberia was conquered by the Arab Umayyad clan, a subset of the Quraysh tribe, not "black". Look at the way they even depicted themselves. Actually it's lvis to it.. The 1st "Moors" where Arabs from the Umayyads. 2nd Moors where West Africans that made the Almaravids empire they were from martannia, Ghana, Tuareg (berbers) , and some other north africsn tribes. They where the "Blk" Moors you show in the picture. The later Moors. Almohads, where a mix of Arabs, Berbers, West Africans. The Final Moorse "befor expulsion " where mostly berbers. So it really depends on the time period. And that's where I think alot of people get it mixed up.

okay that's fair and the closest comment to historical reality, a few corrections however: 1- the second moors were sanhaja berbers from mauritania, they were not touareg or ghanian but they lived among them. 2 - the third moors, the almohads were only arab and berbers from the north of morocco and algeria 3 - the final moors before the expulsion are the nasrids, they were arabs not indigenous to north africa, that's the only thing that was wrong in what you said.
