Pluto and Charon share a common point between them that they rotate around... that's what you found on Wikipedia means... Also, Mercury only takes 88 days to orbit the sun... Pluto and Neptune cross orbital paths so at times Pluto is closer than Neptune.

The reason Pluto and Charon orbit each other in away is something called a barycenter it’s the point two things in space orbit each other. In earths case the barycenter between the moon and earth is in the mantle. In Pluto and Charon’s case the barycenter is not in Pluto.

Ceres doesn't get pelted with asteroids a lot. While there are a lot of rocky and icy bodies between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter, there's so much empty space that asteroids rarely if ever interact with one another

it wont really become pluto 2.0, to be a dwarf planet like pluto, you must not clear the orbit around you of asteroids, pluto fails to do this with an uncountable amount of asteriods in the orbit of pluto, causing it to become an dwarf planet ( clearing the orbit of asteroids require a strong enough gravity, mercury will posses it forever as shrinking doesnt make it less massive, just compresses mercury. )
