Who will rule Malaysia after tight election race? | Inside Story

Compromise seems to be the only way forward for politicians in Malaysia.
That is after a very tight race left parliament with no clear winner.
A coalition between the main runners is now the only way to form a government.
If a compromise is not agreed, the king can appoint a politician as the prime minister who he believes can command a majority in parliament.
So what happens now?
And what does it mean for the country's democracy?

Good analysis of the 15th Malaysian general election particularly the youth vote. Interesting that Malay youth tended to vote for Perikatan Nasional and the Islamic party while non-Malay youth tended to vote for reformist parties. Sheds light on the tension between the conservative and reformist tendencies in Malaysia.
