I disagree that Palestinians tried peaceful methods for their independent land because Arafat was given many opportunities to sign off on peaceful creation of Palestine, each time he disagreed leading to violence. They needed the Gandhi type of non-violence (get millions of unarmed Palestinians in the middle of capital), but they never had it in their psyche!

Hamas was expecting Israelis to go from apartment to apartment to inflict more casualties. Israel was bombing buildings where Hamas was present after alerting civilians and giving them enough time to leave. Often civilians were blocked from leaving by Hamas, and sometimes shot. That's what humane vs. inhumane means.

On what basis, Zakaria said that educated people don’t support Modi, he is completely wrong because educated voters actually vote BJP whereas the poor or non elite group of votes fall for congress or Opposition who promises freebies or does caste based politics. Zakaria cleverly slipped in non factual opinions of his while sounding very classy and educated . Also Zakaria should know that about 20% of Muslims vote BJP and Modi. Well there are divide among all classes....I have seen people giving weird reasons for not voting Modi....but by large educated vote for him.....that I saw in 2019 election......people were voting just on his name...very few knew the candidate...

Before one asks who will run Gaza, one should ask, what is there to run in Gaza? How many Gazans took part in the attack on Israel, and how many Gazans are dead or destined to die? Is it possible to know who took part in the attacks on the Israelis? There should have been Cctvs on the fencing that separates Gaza from Israel. If only Israel could identify the attackers, and ask the Gazans to give them up. Why didn't Hamas attack the Israeli military, instead of civilians? It was Hamas first, who attacked those who couldn't defend themselves. It doesn't seem to matter to any Gazan if Hamas attacks Israel, and it doesn't help any cause, if they do. Why don't the Hamas surrender, if they care about Gaza and its inhabitants?

im not sure why you claim hamas is "very unpopular in Gaza." A well established arab opinion tesearch company based in the west bank recently (post oct 7) surveyed residents of gaza as well as west bank and the support for hamas was almost universal. it was well beyond a supermajority in both locations. According to you that's an attitude shift. According to behaviors it seems like simply pulling back the veil - it's the dominant culture/attitude. And it doesnt matter how mxuch autonomy they have/had, nor how much $ the world provides/provided - they are either incapable or unwilling to build better lives for themselves, and instead of doing the work like sensible people interested in making a good life for their children, they choose to complain and blame Israel and America for their abject situation, the leaders embezzle much of the aid money and of what's left they spend every dime on weapons, and then the citizens use their own children as bombs. That's not much of a prospect for peace negotiations.
