My prediction is so close to Arnaud's, Palme D'or : The seed of the sacred fig Grand prix : Anora Jury : Bird _ All we imagine as light Director : Emilia perez

My predictions based solely on the general reactions (since I'm not in Cannes and haven't seen anything) so I might be totally off because Jury =/= critics. Palme d'or: The Seed of the Sacred Fig Grand Prix: Anora or All We Imagine As Light or they tie. Best Director: not sure, maybe The Substance or Caught by the Tides or Grand Tour? (I don't think actors being in a jury makes a difference 10:16 ) Special Jury Prize: depends on what didn't get any of the top 3. The Substance? Grand Tour? All We Imagine As Light? A tie can very well happen here. It would be funny though if Andrea Arnold gets another Jury Prize. Or maybe she finally gets Best director. Screenplay: Anora, if it doesn't get any of the top 3 awards. Not sure otherwise Best Actress: Karla Sofia Gascon for Emilia Perez. Another possibility is that this is where the tie happens and she ties with Mikey Madison (Anora gets screenplay + actress). Best Actor: depends the least on the other categories as it seems all the most acclaimed male performances are from films unlikely to get anything else. My top possibilities: 1) Sebastian Stan and Jeremy Strong for The Apprentice (this would not consistute a tie), 2) Jesse Plemons for Kinds of Kindness or 3) Ben Whishaw for Limonov.

The best channel covering cannes to be honest. Just a word of suggestion, you guys shouldn’t use the background music playing all the time, the conversation is exciting enough.

We're interested in having FLOW into our film festival, so I'm happy to see you guys excited for it. I find it ridiculous that you sat right in front of someone who was on the phone for the entire duration of the film. Like, you've already paid a bunch of money to be in Cannes and you're going to be on the phone. Did you see "Armand" in Un Certain Regard by any chance? Fun to see both your predictions for the various prizes. I wasn't at Cannes (although some of our staff went there), but I could see you both be very correct on these choices based by what I've heard.

The phone usage at Cannes is out of control. I think part of it is that the festival is more of a business conference than a festival, so many people think it's acceptable to continue their work during the films. Phone usage is rampant here. In all my 12 years attending TIFF, I have never seen as many phones as I saw in Cannes. I didn't have a chance to see Armand, but I'm aiming to get a screener after the festival for my own festival programming work. Good to know you're a fellow festival programmer, maybe we'll cross paths at a future festival somewhere.

I see! Our festival is also very business-related and I've seen it here as well, but I don't think it's acceptible. There's a lot of conference, waiting, chilling areas to continue the work in between the screenings. I guess that's trickier with such a big festival as Cannes with loads more people and little time in between the movies. But it's a bit embarassing, yes. Yeah, maybe we will :) Good luck with your festival programming!

For those who have seen Emilia Perez: did all 4 actresses really deserve the best actress award? Or could this be a case where some jury members wanted to give it to Karla Sofia Gascon but others had issues or were afraid of controversy because she's trans, so this was a compromise?

If they are going to award performances from The Apparentice, hy not both Sebastian Stan and Jeremy Strong? Wouldn't be the first time they awarded two or more actors from the same film.

Is it possible to give same award for two actors for same movie?

@FrakkinToasterLuvva Ай бұрын
@@wrestlinginfodude2644Yes and they have done it. Not just that but it's possible to give it to more than two actors from the same film. It doesn't even count as a tie because the rule is just that an award is given to one film. In 2006, both acting categories were won by multiple people from the same film. 2006 - all 5 leads from Indigenes (Days of Glory): Roschdy Zem, Samy Naceri, Sami Bouajila, Bernard Blachan, Jamel Debbouze 1996 - Daniel Auteuil and Pascal Duquenne, the two leads of The Eight Day 1959 - Orson Welles, Dean Stockwell and Bradford Dillman for Compulsion And similarly Best Actress: 2012 - Cristina Flutur and Cosmina Stratan forBeyond the Hills 2006 - 6 actresses ( Penélope Cruz, Carmen Maura, Lola Dueñas, Blanca Portillo. Yohana Cobo, Chus Lampreave for Volver 1988 - Barbara Hershey, Johdi May and Linda Mvusi for A World Apart 1958 - Bibi Andersson, Ingrid Tulin, Eva Dalhbeck and Barbro Hiort af Ornäs for Brink of Life plus 1955 (before the acting categories were separated by gender) - they have the acting award(s) to the entire ensemble of Soviet drama A Big Family, 16 people overall, 10 actors and 6 actresses.
