If ever you’re in Keswick (in the English Lake District), visit the Derwent Pencil Museum. It has the whole Derwent history, hands on stuff - great fun for both kids and adults …and a great museum shop with all the fabulous Derwent products.

I tend to buy Derwent products and I love the Inktense pencils, I had passed by that set on their site but after seeing this I might just give it a go :)

I've seen people paint with the Derwent Inktense colored pencils on fabric, I guess it's colorfast enough that it can be washed. Very interesting combination of types of inks and paints together with the "line" makers. Would love to see some color mixing
@ukuotuscoffinowl3 жыл бұрын
It's actually because inktense pencils and stics are actually ink. Once you apply them on paper or natural fibre fabric; they'll stick there. -And yes, they are also lightfast. Though lightfastness doesn't have much to do with how well paints stick on somwhere, it's more how well they endure being exposed to sunlight without fading. ^^

Thank you. It's interesting looking set. Inktense ones indeed have ink and they cannot be much reactivated once they dry and trick part with graphitints are that they can be erased to give them highlights and such. Line markers probably also compliment the techniques as if I remember any correct ink might be watersolutable while it's still wet, so it could be bled into together with the paints and hopefully it won't be reactivated by watercolor once it's dry. I kinda hope though that other one had been white pen for adding highlights. Also, question about the pastel ones, are they just pastel shaded colors or did Derwent turn their pastel lines into watercolored version? ( as they already have done that to their ink and graphite pencils ) Like with inktense being good example of that it's not just plain watercolors or watercolor pencils that people are buying but also inks which in the end will behave like inks and graphite will behave like graphite. Btw, it also might smear like graphite over time and if sketchbook is on the go. Fixative will secure it on place though.

Thank for your additional insights. Still learning about these dang-fangled things. And no the Pastel things are just pastel-colors. Think Miami Vice.

Thanks, nice video. I've seen Inktense and the newer Graphictints(?). I can see how both are useful but I have put off buying either. That's a real temptation except for the half pans... I have decided only full pans from now on. Half pans feel cramped and really aren't great for brushes.
@SketchBookSkool3 жыл бұрын
I had no problem with the size and it contributed to the portability which is sort of the point of this set for urban sketching.
