The Who’s performance of “See Me, Feel Me” live at Woodstock 1969 is seriously one of the greatest moments of rock history. It’s my favorite song by them and it’s a religious experience. It truly defines the generation. That would be my recommendation.

BUT, one thing you are leaving out is that once the music starts creeping into your soul, it's really difficult to keep up a static beat. Yes, rub a few accent riffs, but to keep the beat can be a challenge... and it's the most important job in the whole band. Keep the beat, keep the song on track... no matter what

Now you're talking, that's real music, it was almost shocking in the aggressive tone when first released, bought the single right away. I saw this live, Roger spitting out the lyrics and the band putting the hammer down. For more of that era of the WHO, try Amazing Journey into Sparks from Tommy, it is a masterpiece in studio and is all powerful live in 1969 - 1970. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎶

Have you two ever thought of reacting to their album “Tommy”. That is their Rock Opera about a young boy who becomes Blind Deaf and Dumb after witnessing a horrific event. The music is phenomenal and the story from beginning to end is amazing. You should definitely listen to it with candles and a lava lamp.

Great choice! My very first concert, when I was a young teen right after this song hit the airwaves, was The Who as opening act (they stole the show, and smashed their instruments during the final song), the Blues Magoos (one hit wonder with "Nothin' Yet" , and headliner Herman's Hermits. The entire album that this song is from "The Who Sell Out' was groundbreaking IMO, they used a lot of new recording and guitar techniques / ideas, including 'commercials' between some of the songs - worth a listen to the entire LP.

Moon makes the song. It's a threatening mood. No producer can produce Moon's style, but one can constrain that style and make it fit the song, make into a song worth listening to. Imagine this song without that drumming. Inconceivable.

I'm a huge fan of all the "British Invasion" bands since seeing the Beatles on Sullivan in 1964. You're right Amber, there was an occasional "creepy" song - Stone's "Under My Thumb" and Brown Sugar", Beatles' "You Can't Do That" come to mind. Thanks for reacting to all this music from my youth!

I see some comments about this being hailed by Townsend as their loudest & raunchiest song to date, then McCartney writing Helter Skeeter as a one-up. I think Helter Skeelter is indeed a heavier, more rocking song. But don't forget that The Who were once known as the loudest band out there, literally louder than a jet engine (hence Townsend's great hearing loss today), and they're the first band I'd ever heard of that smashed & destroyed their guitars after a performance. It was juvenile, but it got them noticed in the press.

Yes, Jay, The Who is DEFINITELY in the category of "Greatest Rock Bands of All Time"! Along with The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, and Yes. Once you guys have listened to more of their songs, PLEASE watch their movie "Quadrophenia"!! Their studio album, Quadrophenia, is probably The Who's best. And the movie is about the battles between the "Mods" and the "Rockers" in England in the 1960's. It is a very moving film, and also stars STING (who was an unknown at the time) as the King of the Mods.

This takes on an even deeper meaning too, when you look at it through the modern, digital, age. "I can see for miles," indeed. With satellites and the proliferation of security cameras, traffic cameras, and the like, I can see pretty much anywhere on the globe from the comfort of my own home. Sure, it may not be real time, but I can go to street view of Times Square or the 109 Shibuya building in Tokyo and I'm still sitting here in my apartment hundreds or thousands of miles away. And certain parties-such as law enforcement-can actually see the camera feed in real time, or with only a tiny delay.

The Who is best experienced. You can do that if you listen to whole albums at a time. They were groundbreakers. Soon after Tommy was released, they did a live performance of it at Fillmore East. Leonard Bernstein went backstage, grabbed Pete Townshend by the shoulders, and said, "Do you realize what you've done?" Listening to Quadrophenia is an even better experience. And topped with "Love Reign O'er Me", it leaves you drained.

They have so many fun early hits and one thing you could do is just go find a playlist for their early greatest hits album which was called, Eaty Meaty Big and Bouncy. And everything on there is gold to check out the early Who. But I think you would love and your kids would probably love, this really oddball one they did and yet it was still a hit, and it's called, Boris the Spider. It's creepy and crawly and a lot of fun.
