Commentary is pretty biased. They spend every game talking about what Sethlon/Roy does well/poorly, and never really about what Mango/Fox is doing right/wrong. Just try to use both player's names more often, guys.

"The roll doesn't take up the ledge as long as it does in melee" somewhat true... It depends on the character. While rolling would work better for wolf, Roy has a lot of hangtime in the air, and for some reason, he grabs the ledge quickly (kind of like the doctor in melee). But the trick to beating roy is staying on the ledge. Roy has so much hang time, but he can't attack after he reaches his max velocity, so it is really ease to edgeguard him... you just have to stay on ledge.

That's true, but roy's recovery is pretty slow and obvious if Roy is knocked far enough off the stage. So with easy prediction, he is extremley easy to edgeguard (if he is knocked far enough) Mango just instinctively rolled because with every other character, that's how you edge guard them due to their low hangtime.

This is generalized and subject to change based on your area. Round 1 is neutrals only (stages like Battlefield and Smashville). Players then take turns banning stages until there is one neutral left and play there. Round 2 and beyond, the winner gets to ban 2 stages among the neutrals and counterpicks. After that, the loser picks the stage. Both players can change characters.

I'm confused with a lot of questions... Why is there two videos of Mango vs Sethlon at the same tournament? Why is one a winner finals match, and this one a losers finals match? Which one happened first? Were there multiple tournaments in one tournament or something? PS Sethlon is the man.

Tournaments are doube elimination. Everyone starts out in the winner's bracket, and if you lose 1 game, you go to the loser's bracket. If you lose to someone in winner's finals (or any part of winner's bracket), sometimes you will make your way through loser's bracket and play them again. The tournament keeps going until all but one player have lost a set in winner's and loser's bracket.

I think many, if not most Project M tournament builds use the KTAR 8 music pack, which contains a lot of Techno and Drum and Bass. Hell, my builds uses that music pack, it's great!

In competitive play countering isn't the best. If you screw up the timing you are left open for some serious punishment. If the punishment is timed well enough you could even lose a stock and not be prepared. Really just the risk and reward doesn't make it worth while, but the characters who just so happen to have counters tend to be seen a lot in competitive. A little weird how that works out, not a very useful down B, but everything else is pretty much a death sentence.

When you don't know how, let them on stage and knock them off, or since Sethlon went to the ledge so much, grab ledge, maybe throw in an invincible refresh, or abuse how far your recovery is and intercept your fellow fast-faller with something like a bair. Or try moving in when Roy's sword is curling back after staying a little outside of range (this method is much harder than vs Marth). If you have a dsmash with more horizontal range than Fox, this becomes easier, and just doing a bair or something off the ledge is also pretty good as floatier characters. The onstage hit while they go for a sweet spot probably isn't worth the effort, but it will work for you some of the time.

I'd like to clarify that this isn't an issue of "praise vs punishment" or "praise vs no praise" as some of these studies address. Rather is it "praise vs criticism." Though I don't mean to disregard these studies, I find personally that I learn better from hearing what I can improve on rather than what I already have done right. Doing both would seem most effective to me, but my underlying point is that we shouldn't be afraid to criticize one another for the sake of betterment.

I am yet to believe that this has been proven such that positive reinforcement is best in every possible case of education. Everyone is different, and even if most people learn better with positive reinforcement, I don't think the majority can speak for everyone. It seems to me that positive reinforcement is to keep a subject's emotion in check. As an unemotional person, I much prefer for honesty in training. I'd like to know exactly what I'm doing good and bad rather than that "I did a good job, congratulations!" This sort of positive reinforcement seems like a psychological thing. It seems reasonable that this approach would just be a waste of time for some subjects, and it seems ridiculous to affirm that this reinforcement is best for everybody. Also, this situation is a little different than normal. Since most viewers are not emotionally connected to the performance of a player in a match, I think it is best for the education of the audience to point out what a player is doing good and bad, to be honest, rather than positively inflated. If a player is doing nothing but bad, it is dishonest to hunt for something good to say. And if you say something is good when it isn't, I would argue that is more of a problem than saying nothing at all.
