In my own selfish way I'd love to Eccleston come back and appear alongside some of the doctors that came after him in a story written by RTDavies. That would be FANTASTIC and I would want to scream *allons-y* and then *geronimo* at the top of my lungs. But, we all know why that can't, and won't, happen so I would rather he not return at all than come back begrudgingly.

The BBC announced Eccleston’s departure FOUR DAYS after his first episode premiered. They also fabricated a quote about him not wanting to be typecast (severely damaging his reputation) which they were later forced to apologize for. I’d be overjoyed to see my first Doctor again, but I can’t blame him in the slightest.

Capaldi is a rock star at heart. Go out on a high note and leave them wanting more. I can respect that I think he's also one of the few Doctors who's (heh) whole character arc starts and ends their tenure. He began by asking if he was good man and he ended up dying as one. He's told the stories he wants to tell. But I'd love to see Twelve and Missy again!

Tom Baker knows he is getting up in age, so it is normal for him to not want to do a geriatric version of the 4th Doctor. He came back as the "Curator" but even then he was showing his age and (physical) acting limitations. I think the Curator was the perfect send off to a well respected actor that played the most popular Doctor.

5:05 - Apparently the 'Adric apparition' was a deliberate choice by showrunner John-Nathan Turner so that Matthew Waterhouse would still be credited in the Radio Times and people wouldn't be able to guess that his character was going to die in the story preceeding that one.

Just to be clear about Peter Capaldi, I have heard some friends of Peter speak about how Peter felt forced out of the role in 2017. He felt the BBC wanted a younger doctor and wanted one fast. He felt that the BBC would inevitably push to have him replaced, and so he bowed out at the same time as Steven Moffat leaving.

Except we know that's not true since Chibnall talked to Capaldi and asked him to stay on which Capaldi did think about but ultimately decided it would be best to leave alongside Moffat, this is something both Capaldi and Moffat have said.

I wonder what they would have to give up this time? I would suggest that they send NBC Robin Roberts, so she can take over hosting Duties over at the Today Show instead of Savanah Gutherie.

Honestly, I'd love to see the Twelfth Doctor return and have to deal with other Doctors, especially those with a more human-oriented personality similar to 10 or 15, just to see how his more alien and asocial traits would clash. I quite liked the multiple Doctors in the Day of the Doctor, but it did feel more like there were 2 cloned characters and 1 distinct one when it came to the Eleventh Doctor, the Tenth Doctor, and the Warrior.

Sure we all want to see him again make another appearance but sadly he is at that age where he just can't really do it anymore. Honestly I kinda wish she would have returned in Jodie’s era because that would have been an interesting thing to explore, how gender change regenerations effect familial relationships. Like I’m betting it would be simple as Susan just calling her “Grandmother” but still, having a conversation where her and The Doctor explain it’s not a big deal in their culture due to how common it is would be interesting and give us a new look into Galifreyan and Time Lord culture

Please remember also in cast returning, if that cast member has become a superstar in film and TV, their agents would want their clients getting very large appearance fees. Even though Doctor Who now has a very large budget, some fees couldn't be met. For example Karen Gillan now commands mega appearance fees, and so she probably will not be back anytime soon.

In 2010, I met Paul McGann, and I asked him what it was like kissing Daphne Ashbrook, and he answered that it was good because he was the first Doctor to be kissed on-screen. I love Girl in the Fireplace and Sophia Myles returning again as Madame De Pompadour is unnecessarily and it makes The Tenth Doctor's heartbreak over Madame De Pompadour's death at the end of that brilliant episode meaningless and I know well that Amy Pond will never come back and that The Doctor can never see her and Rory again and they are six feet under. I wish Karen Gillan could return. I can see Karen Gillan returning to direct an episode and if she gets offered to direct an episode by Russell T. Davies, she has my support.

Three points: 1.Katie Manning lives in Australia so others like Turlough could come back despite living abroad. After all Joe has for both the Sarah Jane Adventures and for Tales of the Tardis. 2. I very much respect Peter Capaldi's attitude. It is not anti-who but just an appreciation that if everything popular returns so regularly to a show then in the end, endings are never convincing. I think we too have had far too much fan service with bringing back Doctor and companions and it is time to give it a rest. I do accept however the position many hold that 2024 did not feel like a celebration of sixty years but rather The David Tennant TV Telephone. I have noticed that in Doctor rankings Tennant has dropped in popularity and I would guess due to over exposure and perhaps some poor scripted dialogue. You can have too much of a good thing. 3. Adric - the character who played a sulky, petulant teenager was played by a sulky, petulant teenager. Not only giving acting advice to regulars but also to massive stars such as Richard Todd.

Tom and Lalla never recorded in studio together for the audios. They recorded their stuff separately and it was stitched together in post. Fun fact, Jane Slavin, who often read in for Lalla’s lines while recording with Tom, was later cast as the 4th Doctor companion Anne Kelso.

There's really no good reason for Maisie Williams to be on this list as I see it - her first quote sounds very much like she was just referring to the then-immediate future, and even if she wasn't, her most recent overrides that, being her current feeling on the matter. Also there's any number of ways you could bring that character back (not that I feel any great desire to see her again, but still). You can just say she was dropped off by Clara somewhere or have her return be pre-Hell Bent from her perspective, while she was still living through all of history. Honestly kinda surprised Eccleston wasn't number one on this list. But maybe that would've been too obvious.

@@Brogan_Balfour_Crescent I don’t know if it’s how they are directed or if he just can’t remember how to do the voice but it’s not an issue I’ve ever had with any other actors on audio, however, I simply don’t think he’s able or willing to capture the character in the same way he did on the show. The closest example I can think of is how Tim Treloar doesn’t really sound like the Jon Pertwee’s Doctor. Somehow, despite him originating the role, Christopher Eccleston, on audio does not sound like the ninth Doctor. Tom, Peter, Colin, Sylvester, Paul, David…even John Hurt for a short time we’re able to convert their performances but he just isn’t.

Christopher Eccelston is still my favorite Doctor. From his great acting of being both serious and funny, to the simple fact that he was the Doctor that introduced me to the show. It's a shame problems with production have to affect them returning to the show. Having him back would very much be fantastic.

There's no reason why Mark Strickson couldn't return. He's been back to the multiple times to record Big Finish stories, as well as VAM for the DVDs and Blu-rays. So as long as diaries matched up there's no reason why Turlough couldn't be back.

Yeah, I found that one odd. The way it seems to me is because he lives in New Zealand, he couldn't do it. I'm sure they could find a way for him to return. I mean, New Zealand does have airports and the internet. I, for one, would love to see him return. Turlough was a great character.

Lol ya. It’s not like we live in the 1800s where when a family member moves to the new world we’ll never see them again. And as you said, mark has done a lot of stuff for doctor who since his departure. They could’ve just said that he doesn’t act anymore (besides for big finish) and that he’s now a producer. That would’ve been a better explanation than “lol he lives in New Zealand so he basically doesn’t exist”. I turlough I would love if he came back at some point. He’s the only 5 companion that hasn’t been mentioned in the new series. I’ll take a reference to him I’m so desperate.

Eccleston hates acting. At least that's what it seems. He has complained about every role hes ever had, and complains he can't get roles without making the connection that it's his complaining hurting his career. It's nice that he rebooted Dr Who but we don't need toxic people like that.
