People were Starving whilst the top 1% were Exstemely wealthy. Somethings never Change. We've got homeless people are choosing between Heat or EAT its shameful in the 21st century.

During FDR's 1930's he had food left to rot rather than to give away. He new deal dealt a horrible vile hand too. Destroying food is a crime

I just found an older segment uploaded ten years ago - this is a very early Who Do You Think You Are. In brief, her ancestor was sentenced and found guilty, sentenced to transportation to America for 14 years. He was granted land within 4 years, so he actually did very well.

Losing parents is losing an anchor that provides stability. Children losing parents must have been devastating at that time. If there are no relatives to take these children in, what becomes of them?

More than that being orphans they were hungry. Hunting was not allowed on estates which means not allowed unless you owned the land. It was called poaching.

@@peachygal4153 you don't poach 5 bucks because you're hungry - something bigger going on here. They're being pressured to turn in the more senior poachers, it was probably some kind of a gang of which they were the juniors who got caught (just my guess)

Disappointed that the entire show was not uploaded here. Why only 8 to 9 minutes?!!

@@BernardProfitendieu Poverty does create gangs - especially youths who have no living family. The gang became their de facto family because it was all about surviving. They were harsh times in Britain in the 1700's. Children "convicts" as young as 9 were transported to the colonies. (see John Hudson, chimney sweep for example)

This program is quite popular in the UK. The USA doesn't really have enough history to make it interesting.

Even so people in the UK are not all necessarily British but could be from Eastern Europe or Scandinavia or France.

The history of Britain belongs to any citizen of the USA who has British roots, the country they live in might be bereft of historical events compared to the British Isles or Europe in general, but the history of that continent is not owned by its inhabitants it is shared by all who have a ancestral claim to that land.
