In defense of Narcis Prince, he at least has some talent when it comes to blocking his face. Unlike other boxers, you absolutely CANNOT hit him in the face unstunned or from recovering froma missed punch unless it's a counter punch. He's also the only boxer to not take chip damage from a blocked uppercut. Only reason he picked up boxing was probably because a trainer saw his immense reflexes to any punch heading to his face, I guess. He has the best KO scream, though. Shame he never made an appearance in Wii Punchout.

Narcis Prince is the Boxer version of Vega (Claw) from Street Fighter. In SF4 he even has a damage penalty for getting hit if he's not wearing his mask. The beauty obssessed person turned into fighter seems to be a popular trope in Japan. Just look at Zarbon from DBZ, as well.

Narciss is a different league from those two. Vega is smart enough to wear protection on his face, and Zarbon is a soldier/servant of Frieza whose life would be mostly easy battles in fights with lots of backup. It's also possible Zarbon could have been inducted into the Frieza force the way Vegeta was. Narciss Prince isn't an evil foot soldier, he's in a competitive sport.

There's a side challenge to not be fooled by any of Bear Hugger's fakeouts and only dodge the real ones, but that's about it. His idiocy depends on whether or not you're a completionist.

The Koopatrol enemy line from TTYD. You'd think since other koopas have already discovered a counter to getting flipped over the most elite members would've found one too, but no. Once you equip the Spike Shield (or even use Quake Hammer earlier), these guys are free star points.

I had totally forgotten about that. It was such a dumb move and ended the trial out of nowhere. I thought it was anti-climatic, but now that I think about it, it's the perfect thing for Phoenix's total opposite to do: Phoenix manages to save trial after trial when all hope appeared lost, of course his opposite would screw up everything when he'd nearly won.

I can see whole thing with Narcis Prince being like the Punch Drunks short from The Three Stooges. Just replace Curly's ignition from hearing Pop Goes The Weasel to Narcis' ignition from simply getting A Boop To The Head, much to the bright bulb soaring over the head of the greedy dude who would later become Narcis' cornerman. Bad AI is a pandemic in early Pokémon games. Even the "smart AI" of Gen 1 is pretty terrible, because it doesn't understand that type advantages don't matter if the move doesn't do damage.

Fire Emblem Genealogy of the Holy War are smarter, because they won't attack you if your Defense is higher than their attack. But that actually makes them dumber. You see, you always inflicts at least 1 Damage if you hit, so swarming tactics could actually be somewhat effective. The other thing is that they will still approach you, before they realize you're way stronger than them, and just sit in front of you, waiting to be slaughtered.

In early games the AI in pokemon is actually nonexistent in all but gym/league fights. They literally just pick at random. The AI is very rudimentary but will generally pick moves you're weak to and never pick moves that do nothing.

You can lose to him if you just hit his block till you run out of hearts, then don’t dodge his attacks afterwards. Some kids might have just gone in like that originally. As for him beating Mike Tyson, the real Tyson said at one point he couldn’t beat Glass Joe but beat him later

Maybe I'm dumb, but I've never understood why the confused status in Pokemon makes you _attack yourself._ Is the logic that the pokemon faffs about so much while it's dazed and confused that it fumbles its attack and damages itself?

I have no evidence of this but this is my theory. The Confusion effect in pokemon is in the game because of conventional JRPGs having a Confusion effect. However in JRPGs you usually fight enemies with your whole party of 4. The confusion stat in those games makes you attack one of your allies instead. However in pokemon, there are no "Allies" since it's all 1 vs 1 battles. Hence they made the pokemon hit itself due to lack of allies when confused.

But having just learned today that Heaven's Gate is still around, oddly fitting... And holy crap, rail line electrocution leaves behind a skeleton?! I know it can be ambiguous in GTA when someone dies, especially because all that happens to the main character(s) is getting sent to the hospital and losing some money. But here, they're fried to bones. I know it's cartoony and all but wow. And somehow the main character gets resurrected if he gets wasted this way.

I'm probably including that chant in the next episode of Leave My Ears Alone. I used to watch my brother play this game all the time, and just like in this video, the chant would often loop incessantly, even when none of them were around. It's probably due to a glitch. Also, I used to think they were saying, "Hubbibly hug 'em, Hubbibly scratch them", which only served to further irritate myself.

The FE hit thing was fixed in newer games. Enemies only attack if they have both at least 1 damage AND 1% hit.

It depends on the game. In Engage, they will attack you with 0% Hit, unless you play in Maddening.

I mean, logically an enemy should start doing zero damage if your defense stat way outshines their attack stat, but from a gameplay stance it feels like every attack should do a minimum of one damage.
