Fun fact, the only part of Pizza Face that can kill you is his nose, since that's the only place on his sprite that has a hitbox. So you're able to get quite close to him before you get caught. If you've ever seemed to narrowly dodge him and think "how the hell am I still alive?" That's why - his hitbox is incredibly generous.

Pizzaface's hitbox is the same size as your regular standing hitbox, and the top of that hitbox is on his nose, so it's easier go over him than under him

Back in the SAGE demo, Pizzaface's entire sprite was his hitbox, but in the full release, the hitbox got shrunken down to make him easier to deal with.

The reason why games do this is because of hitbox interpolation. A moving hitbox basically slurs itself to take the position of any point between the two frames, so if a projectile is moving really fast they give it a smaller hitbox so it's more fair.

Fun Fact: You can actually unlock Lap 2 earlier if you complete the tutorial within 1:45, therefore unlocking it for all other levels without having to beat them first. Quickest click in my life. Pizza Tower quickly became one of my favorite games ever when I finally got to play it almost a year ago. You nailed it on the head about the P-Ranks really letting you appreciate the level design. What I also appreciate about the game is how its still a satisfying game even if you don't go for the P-Ranks. Levels like Don't Make a Sound practically tell a story through its gameplay and the trial and error method of learning to avoid the monsters then finally gunning them down during Pizza Time! So glad to see another fan of the game

The noise’s escapes feel very different though, you see, « it’s Pizza time » isn’t just « anxiety », the theme song, it’s also representative of Peppino’s own anxiety and his panicky nature, thus it makes sense that the noise’s escape theme, « Distasteful Anchovi JC RE-EDIT », is not as intense because the noise doesn’t panic as much as Peppino, in fact, his escape theme is more representative of his ABSOLUTE CRAZYNOMINESS (yes it is a word, I invented it), the same goes for the lap 2 tracks, see, lap 2 isn’t mandatory, you choose to do it, as such, « The death that I deservolli » is more confident, it is literally « You can do this », the theme song, same goes for noise’s lap 2, he is crazy, therefore « World Wide Noise » feels even more intense, and even more like something that was not planned at all yet the noise does anyway

I like how despite the Noises theme song being a lot more chaotic and like a rampage it’s chaotic and crazed feeling get toned down near the end as the song speeds up and succumbs to the frantic chase to get to the end as the timer reaches zero which makes it obvious that the noise may not be immediately worried about the timer but once he’s actually at risk of being caught he might just feel a bit more inclined to hurry up than he was when John pillar was first defeated

Hey, I just wanted to seriously thank you for making this video. I've been really struggling making this game click with me, and your video finally made it click, and I ended up 101%ing it. When I initially played it, I was extremely overwhelmed by every play session, and ended up stopping upon reaching floor 4. I eventually tried P ranking every level as I realized this made the game more fun, but it made every play session feel like a commitment, so every P rank was months apart. Then I saw this video, and you saying Bloodsauce Dungeon, the level I stopped at, is the hardest. I came back, P ranked it, and was more motivated than ever to finally finish it. As I played, I eventually reached the point P ranks weren't even necessary to enjoy the game anymore, yet I kept going for them since they're just so fun. Plus, I felt like I was actually conquering the tower instead of just going through it. Finally seeing floor 5 after a year and a half of knowing every floor but this one felt triumphant. And now, I am confident in saying this is my favorite platformer I've ever played. Looking back, I'm glad it took this long to click, it made my experience so much more unique and rewarding. So, one last time, thank you!

The timer is stricter compared to other levels for 2 lap runs to the point where you WILL see Pizzaface during your second lap. I like the Noises moveset more and it’s easier to rank higher with him at least for me But he was not made for vertical levels having to stop and super just up some inclines is just slower than wall running and I can confidently say that this is not a level I will be attempting a P rank on for a very very long time (I’ve only P ranked 2 levels and their both the first level- as both Peppino and the Noise)

Honestly? The Pig City is probably the most unique during the escape sequence. When you start off the level, it’s a pretty normal city. However, when you initiate the escape sequence, everything is lit ablaze as the residents run around in a panic!

Btw, John ghost actually moves faster if you are far from him, but slows down if you are close. And oh boy. Players seeking challenge modded the sauce out of this game. Fan-made levels, return of cut features... but main thing is lap mods which add MORE laps with their own gimmick. Lap 3 is commonly a run where you have to escape with Pizzaface on your tail. And each lap adds more madness. Heck, one mod adds the FINAL LAP - the lap 2 of final escape. Though it has some changes in mechanics (combo timer is removed, and instead of having to run to the exit in remaining time after 1st lap you have to run with WAR timer ticking, and each room adds some time upon entry. And Pizzaface also chases you. Though he is in his damaged form like in phase 2 of his fight)

Yes dear Git, it is very possible to clear every Lap 2 without encountering Pizzaface. If you're a complete degenerate, you can even collect literally everything in a level (including clocks, both on lap 1 and 2) without having him after you - but it requires a LOT of optimization. The only level where I know this isn't possible is R-R-F because of just how much stuff this thing has in it. It's terrifying.

On my Peppino playthrough it was a tragic accident On my Noise playthrough I did it 100% on purpose in order to stay accurate to what the noise would have done(Even if you keep him alive in the end he still kills him anyways when playing as the Noise but you still get the badge of approval)

I'd highly recommend that you try out Anton Blast. It's another spiritual successor to Wario Land 4, and that one may actually make you not feel bad for the player character when the escape sequence happens. The entire objective is to trigger a detonator and blow up the level, after all. Just make sure to get the hell out of there before the place goes skywards.

Haven't played this game but I know it's a spiritual successor to the Wario Land games so I hoped you'd do a review on it. I have to say, I'm quite impressed. Movement looks very fluid and the animation is excellent. Clearly based around the "weirdness" of the internet in the last 5 years and the American cartooning tradition. so, the shmup Steel Empire has a rather scary time limit: Usually in shmups, if you take too long to kill a boss, they either self-destruct or leaves. But in Steel Empire, it's different: take too long to kill a boss and a huge spiky ball with a laughing skill on it will appear and ram you until you run out of lives! If you have been doing a good job not using continues, you will likely never encounter this unless you deliberately try to stall the boss fight, since it takes a LOOOONG time... But if you just continued late game it's unlikely you will get your weapon power high enough, and when you encounter a boss you have to both try not to die AND try to not take too long, because now you will barely be able to kill the bosses in time, and that steampunkish Sinistar could be right around the corner.
