Eyup, but sadly you aren't allowed to show a dead child on screen in video games in most countries.. Hell even America (which has the most lax video game standards) dead child onscreen or child being killed by protagonist is an automatic AO rating which is a death sentence as no retail stores will carry it. Though older games like Fallout 2 and Harvester get around it by... not being rated in the first place due to only ever having a PC release and PC Games do not require an ESRB rating

I know it's unrelated, but there's a 4 issue comic series called Dead rising: Road to fortune. It explains what happened between Dead rising 1, and Dead rising 2: Case Zero. And yes, it is canon. Also, about that "how come chuck doesn't get infected?" ordeal, It's likely because the bites aren't deep enough. In the first one (I think?), Isabella explains this to Frank. Yes, the bites draw blood, but they don't rip his clothes at all.

I read people saying that Katie turns in Case Zero and it's the reason Chuck becomes psycho in OTR, that's false. If you visit the green room where Katie was hiding in the original DR 2 in OTR, you see a very familiar green backpack with blood under it. She dies then and there, not in Case Zero. Though really the whole point is really not of that much importance seeing OTR is not even canon.

Please check my comment again, I said in OTR, a non-canon "what-if" game that tells what would have happened if Frank was the protagonist of DR 2 instead of Chuck. In that game, Katey dies and Chuck becomes a psycho. People say that it's because she dies before the events of Off The Record, but no, she dies in Fortune City, if you go at the beginning of OTR to the green room Katey is supposed to be hiding, you find a green backpack covered in blood. (Again, only in that spin-off. Canonically she's alive and she appears in DR 3, Chuck does too). People tend to add OTR to the canon tho, because apparently they think it's canon, but even Capcom said it isn't. It's just a what-if spin-off game.

The Ending F you can get while in the safe house actually reminds me of the scene that plays out in Dead Rising 2 if Katey turns, both involve Chuck falling to his knees and punching the floor, but in Dead Rising 2, thankfully they let you continue the game if you want to grind out the PP until the military arrive.

I just realised how messed up the Dead Rising series is. Not for the Zombie outbreak, but that the scumbags roaming this world get off Scott-free. Otis was an insane irritation in the first game, but he survives in nearly every end, while in the "best" ending, Ed, the likeable goofball who went out of his way to save you, gets killed. And here, we see Chuck, a man who is desperately trying to keep his daughter alive in this hellhole of a world, gets his truck stolen, which also had all the Zombrex on it that's keeping his daughter from turning into a Zombie. What is your deal Capcom!? Are you sadists? Masochists? Sadomasochists?

something creepy is that there are two cannons to dead rising. the happy one where you get A in all the games. which results in case zero, dead rising two, case west, and dead rising 3. and the... less happy cannon is: dead rising ending A: frank escapes. case zero, ending F: katey turns, and chuck green becomes a psychopath, and dead rising off the record, frank takes chucks place as a biker, and that's all you hear from that cannon.

Katey dies there in Off The Record and it's the reason Chuck becomes psycho, in OTR Case Zero would've still ended in A. But in any case, it's not canon, there no multiple continuities, it's just a fanservice (fun nonetheless) what-if scenario.
