Hi Steph 👋. Back in 1973 we moved to Florida and my next door neighbor was a family from Puerto Rico. Every day the delicious smells that came out her door were AMAZING. One day she offered me a small dish that I now know was arroz con pollo. Because she didn’t speak English and I didn’t speak Spanish I never learned the recipes she so lovingly created UNTIL NOW!!! Thank You Steph 😘😘😘

We (puertorricans) make a few boricuas recipes with boiled chicken, but we never use black or white pepper in my family cause almost the entire family is allergic to them. We wash the chicken with lemon and add garlic to the water to dissipate the funky natural smell. Some people add other things like culantro which is a long skinny leave that taste similar than cilantro but stronger in flavor and consistency. Or a bay leaf. I can't find culantro were I live. I can only find cilantro mostly in the summer. We all do what we can. Thank you for the reminder cause now I remember some home recipes I haven't make in a long time that starts boiling the chicken.

Let me just say I have replayed this video over and over again 50+ time I want shredded chicken soup with potatoes and white rice with corn. I’m in my middle 20s and still live with my parents. So with that being said I am not the main cook my mom is. She is that mom that says, “get out the way I’m cooking” so I don’t bother helping I have learned from KZbin and cook when she out of town or just not home. Love you keep up the good work. Love the videos.
