Bioelectronics for Millimeter-Sized Model Organisms mentioned this and this is why I'm listening. Very very interesting 🤔

at 1:36 what kind of vibratome are you guys using to cut brain slices for electrophysiology experiments? is the patching done automatically using image recognition system? what kind of manipulators are you using? Thanks
@laziefred6 жыл бұрын
Those are Scientifica manipulators and I think the vibratome is from Precisionary Instruments

For vibratome, Leica 1200s or Campden 7000smz are the best. trust me

I've got a Thesis opportunity in a Electrophysiology center about Epilepsy and i'm not sure if i should chose it among other opportunities. I don't know how far could a Patch-clamp technique lead in research and how much it can alow us to achieve. I'm still hesitating about taking this opportunity, considering my main goal is producing a summa-cum laude Doctorate Thesis... if someone could help on taking this decision, i would be infinitely thankful.

All scientists are men, all lower level lab staff are women. That is what I notice. That is what is wrong. I am absolutely sure lab staff are also capable of explaining the science. More speaking roles for women and other minorities please.

I don't think that just because there are a lot of women doing the lab work that it means that they're low-level staff, Heck I think I can see the speaker doing lab work in the scenes too. I doubt the people there have any malintent behind it too. l=Letting the most experienced person or the person running it talk about the subject isn't a bad idea and I don't think it means anything about their political opinion that he happens to be a he.

I thought i am the only one that noticed this issue. Not a single woman scientist got a chance to say anything.

it just so happened that the experts in this video happened to be men, look at other videos in the channel, and many women scientists get the word.

As a biologist, as an electrophysiologist, and as a former professor: There is a lot more female students and researchers in the field of bioscience than male, and that has been the pattern for last 20 something years. This also means that majority of the new scientist recruits are female. Maybe not in these labs, but this is not representative of what the reality is. Don't judge.
