I broke out the Char-Broil Big Easy to cook a whole chicken. I injected it first with apple juice and then tossed it in. It turned out great! I much prefer doing chickens this way than smoking them. Thanks for watching!

I just ordered one online after seeing this video. Using it right now for a Whole Chicken!!! For those who don't want to fork over $100 or so for an iGrill, I would suggest something less wireless but still capable: itronicsmall.com/product/thermopro-tp-17-digital-meat-thermometer ~$25

@@Clutchfan1 when I posted this I didn't realise they made the "big easy oil less fryer.". I have the big easy SRG which was discontinued I guess because they now make Smokers, Roasters/Fryers, and of course grills. I was thinking this was the SRG but I missed that detail. Thanks for clarifying. I really like the SRG model because it has a port for wood chips and a grill top. The grill works great while the smoking is generally too hot for like a brisket or anything like that. The lowest I can get the temp is about 350°F. But being able to add a little wood smoke flavor to anything I cook in it is definitely awesome.

A good hour maybe a bit more - keep it on full blast the whole time - you can add the mesh grate on about 10 mins before you pull it up for extra crisp

Chris.. how easy is the clean up of the unit?? Rick, Alaska
@GreyCountyGrillin
@GreyCountyGrillin 5 жыл бұрын
Hey Rick! It's pretty easy, actually. I just put the basket in the dishwasher and it's good. The stainless steel sleeve just need a wipe down and as long as you put a small foil pan in the drip tray, it stays clean. My wife and I just went on an Alaskan cruise in September, absolutely beautiful place!

You want 165 in pretty much all areas. The legs and thighs will cook a bit faster, so they might hit 175 when the breast gets to 165

Your family is very cute, and nice looking chicken! Just a question though - wouldn’t putting so many holes in the chicken through injections make the meat more dry because the juices can run out through the holes?
@5argetech56
@5argetech56 5 жыл бұрын
What you do is this. separate the skin from the meat and inject underneath the skin...
@GreyCountyGrillin
@GreyCountyGrillin 5 жыл бұрын
The marinade would just run out from where you separated the skin. The meat wouldn't absorb anything that way.

I cooked my chicken for two hours, it was done all the way thru, very crispy skin. But at the bone by the breast area it was blood red which turned my family off. Did I do something wrong. :(
@GreyCountyGrillin
@GreyCountyGrillin 5 жыл бұрын
No, you didn't do anything wrong! That sometimes happens with frozen chicken. Some pigmentation will leech from the bone marrow and turn a reddish brown colour after cooking. There's nothing wrong with the meat that has been discoloured, it's just doesn't look very appealing. But as far as I can tell, you did everything perfectly!

@BobthePhotoGuy
@BobthePhotoGuy 5 жыл бұрын
With the Big Easy BRG you don't need to inject or rub with oil. Just leave the lid open and close the lid when you hit the 145 mark on the breast.
@GreyCountyGrillin
@GreyCountyGrillin 5 жыл бұрын
No, you don't need to inject, but you don't need to season it either. Injecting adds some flavour, and certainly doesn't hurt anything.
