I’ve got an HRV in my new property and it makes such a big difference. Wish it was etc but even so it’s an amazing addition and won’t build or renovate a place without one ever again.

Do you know of any other models that do the preheating instead of recirc or defrost? Intellibalance, broan, and renewaire premium all seem secretive about this which leads me to believe they defrost /recirc. Best explanation describing the magic of the tesseract surface area I've ever heard. Your nine year old is ahead of her years.

Great video Jake! Question though … we are building a new home. I had a Manual J analysis done by Energy Vanguard, which I have supplied to the HVAC contractor who is assembling the system quote. The contractor uses Renewaire ERVs. They are not familiar with Zehnder and skeptical of the value of separate ductwork systems for heating/cooling AND air exchange. Are there “white papers” or industry research which document the benefit of dedicated ductwork for air exchange?

Granted, you may use MERV13 filters at intake and in or on the unit, still I wonder about the potential for the counterflow exchanger unit to grow mold...how can you acceptably clean it? If the home's heat is off, how do you ensure mold-free operation and for what duration of independent operation?

You can clean the core out btw, you can legit just stick it in a bathtub

Just Learning About This Ventilation Systems that I Absolutely Think I Need Because I'm Terribly Sick Whenever I'm In My House and I Have Tried and done everything Possible and this seems to be what Will Solve It Because I Feel better when I'm Outside. Just that No Installers are in My area and When I call up Most HVAC Companies in My Area to Ask About Home Ventilation Systems They Have No Idea WTH I'm Talking About.

Seems that the length of the insulated exhaust and inlet pipes are pretty long, there will be large inefficiencies in the system due to this.

Have you considered adding a calculation of the kwh saved by recovering the energy invested into cooling or heating?

can an ERV be incorporated into an existing HVAC without running additional ducting?

i tried asking this question chatgpt and it responded with a quite a comprehensive answer, try it out too. In short, the feasibility relies on having a return air plenum in your house

with this system do you do central heat and air or do you use mini splits?
@jake.bruton.aarow.building10 ай бұрын
Because this system has its own ductwork it should work with any well designed heating and cooling system.

What if you run outdoor air pipes below the frost line. Would that help with defrost/recirculating
@jake.bruton.aarow.building9 ай бұрын
If you are asking about running from below the grade, no. Introduction of soil gases is a bad idea.

Can a ERV system be installed with a Geothermal system?
@justjohnn5 ай бұрын
Yes, there is no inherent conflict. The details of the ERV install will depend on your heat/cool system.

First time I've heard of this system. Can this be installed after the build is complete?
@jake.bruton.aarow.building4 ай бұрын
Obvisouly it would be a renovation type situation to do so. Cutting and fitting and repairing. However, since this system operates basically seperate from the HVAC, it should be able to be installed later on. However, I would for the system to be engineered because their may be simplier alternatives to resolve the matter.

The air doesn't mix at all. Temperature exchange 😊 Nice presentation 🎉

That was my understanding as well, but now I’m left with the question how do you exchange the humidity (as mentioned) if the intake and exhaust air don’t touch? Nice video and really nice installation

@@jake.bruton.aarow.building I’m installing one right now and it’s an over engineered piece of shit everything that it does could be done with a standard air exchanger like a Hero.
