ok here’s my dilemma: i loved inuyasha, i loved ranma (i watched it 3 times and read the manga twice) and this couple gets such high praise so i finally watched it (usually a dub person and it was hard to find online). i’ve gotten through a few episodes and idk if i should continue or not. Ataru’s says all the time how much he doesn’t like having lum around, even when by himself. Lum came in when he already had a girlfriend that i kinda like, and lum is kind insensitive. he obviously loved someone else at the beginning of the series (where i still am) and she broke that and would shock him if he talked to her. on top of that, his constant woman chasing gives me the impression that he doesn’t love Lum. if any of you have seen ranma, there’s an episode where shampoo “hates” ranma so he does everything he can to make her love him again, even though he didn’t like shampoo in that way. it was purely for his ego. That’s one part of the series didn’t affect him or the show much for me because he definitely shows before that and after that he loves akane more then anyone else. But with Ataru, he just always makes her feel bad. i know later on Lum is a sweetheart but that just adds to my problem. i need a new ship, my ultimate question is: is this the one i should follow? i loved Ranma and Akane, so i want something like that

You're not the only one who have barriers like those that make the series unwatchable because of this situation. It's not saint.

Trust me, it's going to get better. There are 195 +12 ovas + 6 movies. The development between the two gets better and Ataru will treat her better than he did before. It takes time. Ep 44 you'll see. Also, they are both stubborn and Ataru will never show how he feels about her, that's how he is. He shows it at crucial moments and in tiny moments so be mindful. Ataru girl hunts because he likes the thrill of getting caught by Lum.
