That cat who walked through fire, she ended up living, but she had trouble walking and became blind. If I remember correctly, 2/5 of her kittens later passed away from complications of the fire, but Scarlet lived to an old age. 3 of her kittens lived as well. Scarlet almost passed away from lung complications. But her and her last 3 kittens made it. A book was also made about her. It’s truly a heart warming-and sad-story.

One kitten passed right after the fire, the other passed away in 2008. Scarlett also passed away in 2008 because of health issues. To be honest, even though it's possible, I doubt the rest of the family is still alive. The fire happened in 1996, and complications may have set in later. And Scarlett regained her sight after the fire. Her eyes were swollen shut, but they healed and she could see just fine.

hubby agreed with me when we said 4 cats and 2 dogs was enough. Also hubby during a cold winter 2 years ago: one of my co-workers found a stray kitten and her husband is allergic to cats and can't keep him. so we're adopting the kitten. we named him mittens, and he went from being shy to being the snugliest cat who loves sleeping hugging hubby One of our dogs died since then. so we got another dog from the local shelter

Sorry for your loss. My cat is pictured with my name and he died several years ago from pneumonia at age twelve. I got so damn angry when people kept saying "It's JUST a cat"!! My Bubbie slept on me Every night, unless he was on my pillow, or if it was warm he'd be at my feet. ANY surface that I tapped with my hand he would jump onto it, counters, sinks, tables, porch railings, trash buckets, the car, my shoulders, etc. He was my Boy!!! And No, my girlfriend and I don't have human children. All our kids have 4 legs and a tail. He loved people and kids. He would sneak into the downstairs neighbor's apartment to check out the preschool aged kids. He was a big 15 pound lover boy!!

I’m so sorry. I don’t care if he was 50 years old. He was your baby. We who have been through it, share your pain. Imagine hugs of love from around the world. This hug 🤗 is coming from Australia 🇦🇺. When I lost my precious cat 🐈 ( most beautiful girl in the world) , I thought my heart wouldn’t go in. She helped me through my husbands passing. The next day, the vet introduced me to a 5 week old kitten. She said ‘ you need a cat, this cat needs a home. I’ll leave her with your for 2 weeks’. you can send her back after 2 weeks! ( of course, after I’d heard her story) It took me the 2 weeks to even say her name. Now I love her to bits ( even though she bought me in a mouse!!!!!) and it’s been 5 and a half years. You never replace - the bond is too strong - but - you can care again and give a kitty a good home I didn’t want a kitten 🐱- I wanted an older cat because I said I wouldn’t last long enough for a kitten. Sigh 😔. Universe thought better. You don’t choose a cat - a cat chooses you. I hood you feel a little comforted from all the hugs you’ll get. Your cat will be waiting at the Rainbow 🌈 Bridge . She’ll wait as long as it takes. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Sorry my cat died June 2020 the worst year of my life he was given to us by my moms boss and we loved him his name was buddy but we started calling him gato and boy was he FAT but we loved fat cats but we did put him on a diet and we had him for about 6 years he was always there for me and he would always like to sleep on my my bed but we put him down he was really old he couldn't walk on his back legs and I cried the whole 3 hours he was away getting put down and we didn't even keep his ashes cause they were so expensive but we kept his paw prints I kept the toys I got him and to this day I still cry about it but now I have two lovely cats a Siamese kitten named newt he's a crazy little boy and then I have my chonker maple a tortoise shell with long fluffy fur she loved us immediately and we love her they both comfort me so much and my beloved guinea pig usage always talks to me when I walk into the room it makes my day when she kisses my nose but no offense to my other cats gato was the best cat ever no other cat could replace my baby boy

Almost 6 years ago me and my family saved my cat and his brother from the side of the road who were locked up in a cage in the rain. They are both boys and when we brought them they looked to be about 1yo. They both had really different personalities, on was a really fluffy long haired brown tabby who everyone likes since he was social and beautiful, the other cat was black and really shy. Idk why me and the black cat got along so well, but now every time I leave he gets really upset. So when I came home from a beach vacation, he was sitting in the middle of the room waiting for me, then cuddled right next to me and we just stayed there until we fell asleep and woke up the next morning. He's honestly the greatest creature I've ever met, he always appeared out of no where to comfort me when I cry or have a bad day.

For those asking about the Mama Cat and her 5 kittens, here is some update: The fire happened in 1996, so Scarlett (named after Scarlett O'Hara) was barely a year old when she saved all her kittens. They were taken to a vet and treated. Scarlett's eyes were badly swollen, her fur singed, and all had smoke inhalation. Mom's sight slowly returned, but sadly, one kitty didn't make it. The other four were adopted out in pairs, but Mom's adoption was a long process because they wanted someone who wanted to actually love and care for her - not cash in on her. They finally found someone, who took care of her for 13 years before Scarlett passed away due to health issues. One of her other kitties died that same year due to cancer. As for the others, there have been no new updates, but considering how long ago this happened, and how old THEY were, complications may have set in.

I remember hearing that story of Scarlett. She was a stray who managed to rescue her kittens from a burning house. She and her kittens were all treated and recovered from their burns before they were found loving homes. Scarlet lived until she was about 13 or 14 years old after that and died a natural death. The North Shore Animal League created an award named the Scarlett Award for Animal Heroism, in Scarlett's honor. A stray always used to come in my garden. I used to leave it food everyday but when i tried to get closer it used to run away so i would just close the door and watch from the window and one day the cat came to the door while i was standing there. I was scared to open the door bcuz i thought it would run away but it didn't it but instead it started bumping its head into my leg and rubbing it me. I still remember i was so happy. I was covered in cat hair but who cares. She normally came and sat on the window sill lookinv in to see if i was there and she would meow until i heard her. The cat used to sit in my lap and purr and fall asleep in a snowball like shape. I named her cookie. But then we moved and sadly we couldn't adopt her. Although recently i found from my neighbours that the cat still visits the house and looks inside. I wonder if she still remembers me. I miss her so much.
