Fun fact: the AWP was developed by Accuracy International, who at the time were 2 guys in a shed. When the AWP was adopted by the british military as the L96A1 they told the 2 guys that they would send an inspector to Accuracy International's factory. The 2 guys promptly rented a warehouse and filled it with desks covered wit spare parts to make it look like it was a manufacturing centre, and when the inspector arrived he took one look at it, marked it off and told them "that's all we needed to see, we were just making sure you weren't 2 guys in a shed"

Fun fact #2: The AW platform was developed for Swedish military trials, which required the L96 to be optimized for artic conditions. Also, the "AWP" in CS and TF2 is actually the Artic Warfare Magnum. The police model has a black stock.

Stuff you Missed: *Huntsman:* Not entirely an "origin" thing, but the view-model for the Huntsman was originally going to be left-handed. *Sydney Sleeper:* The gun is technically not a gun; rather, it's a pneumatic dart gun. (That black thing on the rear is an air tank.) Also, the weapon has a custom reload animation (see the TF2Wiki), but for some reason Valve didn't implement it... *Machina:* The name of the weapon is based off he name of the game it originates from (Deus Ex); both are based off the phrase "Deus ex machina", or "God out of the machine". *Self-Aware Beauty Mark:* The name is based off a quote from the Medic in Expiration Date. *Jarate:* The item was announced on April Fool's Day, 2009. Naturally, a lot of people took the announcement as a joke at first. Also, nobody has ever _directly_ proclaimed the jar is full of urine; even the comic "The Insult That Made a "Jarate Master" Out of Sniper" only mentions that Sniper's kidney tripled in size. *Cozy Camper:* The item was actually originally designed as a backpack item for the Engineer. It was eventually transferred to the Sniper before it was submitted to the workshop. *Kukri:* Sniper's version actually more closely resembles a bolo knife; kukri's generally have blades with a sharper angle and more curved blade. *Tribalman's Shiv:* The creator originally wanted a custom animation: when the Sniper performed a critical hit, he would swing the blade in a manner that had the jagged edge strike the enemy directly. However, he did not make the animation, and Valve didn't bother to either, so it never came to be.

Another fun (Probably true) fact: The Hitman's Heatmaker is very likely a reference to the Hitman franchise, as Agent 47's choice of sniper rifle is the WA2000. It should be noted the gun was added the same year Hitman: Absolution was released.

The two bow models are left handed, if I'm not mistaken. A right handed bow has the arrow rest on the left hand side, while a left hand bow has the arrow rest on the right side like we see in game (or at least in the video, idk if the arrow is a separate object the video creator positioned incorrectly). Though some eastern shooting styles rest the arrow on the same side of the bow as the handedness of the shooter, so I suppose sniper could be using one of those?

@anonymousaccordionist3326 4 жыл бұрын
@@omniscientbarebones No, it is in fact from Quake. Doom did also have that same viewmodel position, however the Original is very specifically inspired by Quake, in homage to TF's beginnings. I am not saying this without proof, either, as when you get a kill with the Original and open the developer console the weapon is coded as "Quake_rl" like I mentioned in my previous comment.

Things you didn't mention about the Classic - not only does it share its design with the TFC Sniper rifle, but also the Automatic Rifle (since they were technically the same weapon). Additionally, it shares its playstyle with the Sniper Rifle from TF Classic, right down to the gibbing, but the TF2 version lacks the cripple mechanic that the TFC rifle did. You also forgot to mention the smaller receiver bit and the larger muzzle thing compared to the G36, and the larger scope in comparison to the TFC rifle. And last but not least, you didn't say that the Classic is the best weapon outright in Team Fortress 2, or video games in general for that matter.

1:59 worth noting a compound has only slightly more efficient energy transfer than a recurve; the main advantage of a compound is that the lever system stores energy, holding part of the weight in the cams while at full draw and allowing the bow to be held at full draw longer due to the “let off,” but it is no more powerful than a same-weight recurve.

The self-aware beauty mark's jar is a laboratory-grade anaerobic jar, used to keep a pile of Petri dishes in an oxygen-free environment. Normally a flat bag containing a strong reductant powder is added, which depletes the oxygen in the jar forming a non-breathable oxide salt. A catalyst is also put under the lid to boost this process.

The stock rifle's scope is a wacky de-night-vision-ifed scope from a US M-3 Carbine. This "snooper scope," with its missing black infrared search lamp, was among the first NV scopes (along with the Vampyr) to be used on a rifle instead of a tank's sights.

Also, a little reference with the Machina. It's from the Deus Ex franchise, and if the words are put together, you get the term "Deus ex machina", a plot device used to make an unsolvable situation better, such as the main character falling, and something catching them. Also known as an asspull.

As far as I know, the SMG is actually based off of a homemade .22lr machinegun, that actually has a curved magazine, allegedly made in the 70s by a guy called Al. I found a picture of it three or four years ago on Googel, with a title along the lines of "Als .22lr machinegun/machinepistol", and a website that, if I remember corectly, had a collection of several homemade guns with pictures and some data about them. Now I can't find it anymore. It might obviously have been a fake, but it looked pretty legit. The barrel was much thinner, the sights where much smaller and it had a metallic/stainless steel look to it. Any hints or info about it are much appreciated.

Fun Fact for the Classic: The magazine seems to be similar to the HK417's mag, though curiously still having the dots?which are used to connect mags together, while also having a G36c foregrip, and a prototype sight.

The Sydney Sleeper also uses a scope that resembles (if not literally the same) the one configured to the M1903 Springfield.

I think the sleeper weapon might be close to a weapon zoo keepers use whenever they need to put an rampaging animal to sleep (no not kill) the rifles they use are usually loaded with sleep darts so maybe the darts for the sniper in TF2 are modified sleep darts only instead of injecting an agent that probably would put a human to sleep fast depending on the agent used they're filled with piss.

Im sure somebody already pointed this out but just in case not: the stock sniper scope is probably based off an M1 carbine infrared night vision scope called the t3 carbine system

The first couple sniper rifles in question actually aren't particularly based off of anything, they are outbacking makeshift rifles made by the sniper himself, this is most likely the case with the piss rifle.
