They still seem to have a kind of weird understanding of probability rolling a 1 on a die does not make you any more or less likely to roll a 1 on a die the next time however rolling two ones consecutively is a 1 in 36 because they're six options * 6 options so rolling doesn't affect the next role but it does affect the odds of getting any one roll

acua3 but at that point ryan had already rolled and knew the outcome If you rolled those 2 numbers 3 time already then you only need to roll them 1 more time for it to be 4 time consecutively. So there's a 33% chance it would happen again. Yeah the fact that it happened 4 time in a row is incredibly unlucky, but ryan still has the same chance of rolling it ON THAT TURN.

Ryan in Mario Party is great. Does he ever win? Hardly. Does he get very depressed? Terribly so. Is it by far the best experience watching him be beaten down by chance, only to then be given a chance at deciding the game, and still choosing to throw it into chaos because he wouldn't win anyway? Did some quick math and this is the average number of spaces they’ll move each turn with their character dice: Normal die: 3.5 Ryan: 4 Matt: 3.33 Michael: 3.167 Gavin: 4 So, not accounting for human error, it’s more advantageous for Ryan and Gavin to use their character dice in the long run. Although I suppose that’s why they have coin penalties while Matt and Michael don’t. Idk if anyone else cares about this lol but I was curious about the cost-benefit tradeoff of trying to roll a 7 or 9

Another thing to consider though is consistency, as in this game for example you're only getting 10 rolls. The standard die is more consistent than most character dice, which may or may not be more desirable depending on the situation. Hence the coin penalties make those dice much more of a risk/reward type thing.

Oh you are 100% right. Boo and Warrio are in fact one of the best. 2 out of 6 are bad. But their good sides are all great rolls. The coin penalty is pretty pointless if they are on a blue space, as you'll get +1 at the very least. Coins are also pretty easy to get in this game. 1st - 3rd get coins now, and stars only cost 10 coins. In the end, there's no reason not to risk the roll. Once you have an ally then I would say there's really no reason to use a normal dice since you'll move no matter what. If you want to be even more ballsy, Bowser's is pretty amazing. It's a high risk high reward kind of deal. Pretty sure it's the same though, you'r average will be higher so worth the risk. And if I did the math right his average is 4.6 as well being basically the best in the game. His only downside is he has two -3coin sides. Besides that a 1, 8, 9, and 10. 1 sucks too but still moving at least. Obviously things depend on situations too, like no reason to risk a 0 space when the star is close and etc. but nothing is better than watching bowser go ten spaces

The addition of meta-game elements with the allies and the charcter dice blocks is certainly interesting. The allies especially seem like they can be a blessing and a curse, since they can give you a boost to mobility and a different Die, but they will also prevent you from moving just one or two (or no) spaces, making it harder to land on precise spaces.

I'm definitely curious to see them play more of this because of the allies. Mario Party videos are always good for the fuckery that happens, and I can see the allies potentially causing a lot of it. That roll Gavin made at the very end with his two allies and the -2 to land on the extra bad luck space was hilarious and a great example.

The tutorial is right. Picked this up yesterday, played this map, won every single minigame but could not for the life of me get a damn star until the last round. I'd get right before it and someone would swoop in. The entire group got rolled down the ramp like 4 times. Final round, took first back from the computers with one star each of us. Bonus stars went to Yoshi for being the slowest and Mario for having Hammer Bro on his team. Only match I played, I lost. 9/10 Mario Party is good again.

The only reason 10 turn games take so much longer in this game is because there's so many animations for everything. Selecting a dice block, rolling it, transitioning to a minigame, it all takes so long. A bit ridiculous, I think.

Goomba kinda sucks though if you go off their personal dice roll. Granted depends if they don't care. Like Boo's is risky but has high results. Goomba is pretty bad. Normal dice but 1 and 2 are +2 coins,aka 0 movement. Which a blue space is +3 coins. So unless you really want to not move, Goomba's dice is just bad. They acted like Boo's is risky but only 2 of the 4 sides were bad, on top of his 4 good sides being great. Stars are cheap and mini games give coins to 2nd and even 3rd. In the end it's worth risking a roll. Plus get an ally and there's really no need to worry about a bad roll, cause you'll still move at the very least.

From what I understand, Mario Party 9, 10, and Super are made by Nintendo proper, while the older ones weren't. Nintendo's trying to make it like the old games, but simply isn't used to making these games yet

Gonna be real, kinda like the small boards, means that when the star fucks off to the far side of the board it's only like a dice roll to get in range, not three turns popping mushrooms to get it.

Having played this game, its absolutely hilarious to me how this wotked out because 1) there IS a star in one of those chests and 2) the item given to the last place human player is random. I know most of the time its just Michael being milliseconds better at minigames, or random chance, or the other players handing him stars" but goddamn it really seems like this game knows who's buying the amiibos.

One thing is that there's a third bonus star that's dependent on allies. If someone gets the specific bonus ally for that game, they get the star, but otherwise it doesn't even come up.
