If my host os is windows and i dont want to switch it should i run a linux vm with a whonix vm on top of the linux one? Or just whonix vm straight on windows.

2:24 2 years later i believe you can run on apple devices now or should be able to very soon. Apple supports virtual box now

In my experience, UTM has been the way to go on Apple Silicon Macs. The problem is it relies on Apple's own frameworks (e.g. Rosetta) to translate from x86 to ARM and vice-versa, but most things work fine. The ARM images are much more performant, but you might need the x86 images for compatibility. The issue here is Mac users effectively cannot use Whonix or Kicksecure at all because the developers don't have the resources to develop for the hardware or the restrictions.

i run ubuntu in hyper v and whonix kvm on this ubuntu, do you think this is one of the most anonymous setups possible? would it be advisable to somehow also use cubes for an extra layer of security?

I'm not qualified to answer this because I'm not too familiar with HyperV. On Microsoft Learn, you can find HyperV's documentation and compare that to KVM. KVM is also open-source and HyperV is not, but they are both pretty good security-wise. HyperV also requires you have Windows Pro, Education, etc., so consider this from a privacy perspective.

@@Trafotin i wasnt even aware of the fact, that its a really bad idea, to run one virtualization software over another/ the problems that this can produce and that its simply not designed for this. I did a bunch of research and now realized this. Thanks so much for bringing this to my attention, i now changed my setup :)

No point in using a VPN if Tor isn't censored in the country you live in. It does also mask Tor in places it might be blocked.

​@@Trafotinsome prefer a VPN because you encrypt the data, whereas the nodes are trackable on Tor, and plenty get busted for using Tor raw, even with JavaScript disabled.

amazing work , can you tell me how can i use other browser i.e i've installed brave browser on whonix , but i wanna add tor network to it , brave should use the same configuration/ tor network as it uses in default whonix tor browser , i know i am somewhat still connected to whonix gateway but the default one connected to extra tor layer or 6 nodes

Just use the Tor Browser in Whonix. Don't use any other browser in Whonix, just use your normal machine.

@@Trafotin it lacks some visual features like uploading things aren't possible on tor , some visual glitch into it also html canvas error , i will use tor but isn't my overall ip secured when i used brave one two time

This would be redundant... By the way you dont even have to use whonix Workstation at all. I personally use Kali Linux and Gateway only. For an extra Layer of security you can use a socks5/http/whatever proxy in Front of the whonix gateway or use an offshore server as ssh tunel in Front or behind whonix gateway. For example proxy + whonix gateway + ssh tunel + (whonix gateway again) + (proxy again)...
