I agree with Whoopi. Every time an African American tries to explain how we feel about racism or explain the offensive words or actions of racist people in this country it seems like we get dismissed or that we are too sensitive. You don't have to understand right away, but just listen. That's all! Just fucking listen!! If there is a group of people that have been saying the same shit for years about how they are being treated in this country then, obviously, there is something wrong. Damn!! 😑
@root82728 жыл бұрын
Because nobody cares about talking about feelings. We can't run a country based on feelings. If feelings aren't backed by statistics, evidence, and reality, they are meaningless. For example, if I FELT that someone was trying to harm me, when they weren't, I would just be irrational. Irrationally-held beliefs, just like those of the KKK, aren't good for ANYONE.
@Maryxx958 жыл бұрын
Brian Reading well...this country was founded on feelings of being oppressed by a tyrannical government so......
@Maryxx958 жыл бұрын
Brian Reading and there is evidence. we see it all the time. but there's a thing called confirmation bias. you should look it up. what's happening is that people are saying they feel oppressed. there is no overt evidence to support it. or if there is evidence, people will try to find loopholes. all that results in the oppressed not having their feelings heard and everyone ignoring the problem. I remember when the police shootings of unarmed black people almost seemed back to back, and I was watching CNN or fox or some shit. So then here comes a reporter with statistical evidence apparently to argue the notion that police officers are killing blacks at a higher rate than whites. The chart showed some raw numbers of police killings with race as a factor and they were along he lines of this: White - 500 Black -300 Then the other races were listed. Reporter goes "There you have it. Police officers kill whites more than blacks" along those lines, which weirded me out because no one should be taking pride in the fact that police officers kill its civilians in the first place. But yeah, those raw numbers were used to prove that blacks were being crybabies and making shit up. HOWEVER, when you account the fact that white people account for half the population while black people only account for 12%, you can see whether those numbers can be misleading. But you had a trusted NEWS CHANNEL giving out purposely misleading information because people either did not want to believe what was really happening/ or you did, but refused to accept it for yourself. That's what always happens when the conversation of race comes up. This is what happens everytime. You can look up all the evidence you want you can see what people of color have been saying for decades, or you can look up that same information and still try to find a way to scrutinize, find a loophole or use another "problem" to justify why there was a problem in the first place. Unfortunately, the latter is usually what always ends up happening.

You are so wrong though. A lot of POC find it difficult to get a job because of colour and I agree I hate the "inclusion rule" most places have too, but I hate it because IT SHOULDNT NEED TO EXIST. That's the point right there. If you see a black man in a really nice, expensive car, do you think "oh, how'd he get that?" or even "bet he doesn't own it?" or anything along those lines? That's racism and white privilege. So many POC get pulled over for doing nothing just so Police can check their license. On a train, Police walk right past the young white couple and straight to the Muslim young girl to check her ticket. On a bus, the bus driver watches very carefully for where the Indigenous man sits. In a shopping centre the cashier keeps a close eye on the family of asians to make sure their kids don't pocket something. Now tell me that's not racism. It's not a matter of POC hating whites, that is not what this is, this is POC asking for whites to see the truth behind their words, to see how hurtful it can be. White people don't want to talk about race because they know everything they say to rebutt is wrong. Racism is an issue, white privilege does exist and whitelash did happen.

This wasn't well said, but rather shortsighted if she can't remember where the conversation started from. I felt like the other girl had to bite her lip not to point it out to her and humiliate her because she seemed so upset. It was so obvious where she was coming from. yeah, people don't make fun of presidents ever or use derogatory language. But, obama's black so it must be racism.
@MrMestapholese7 жыл бұрын
+Maltese What When you make a broad generalization calling it a "whitelash" which has racial implications and leaves no room for nuance then yes, you are being racist. The very topic itself is saying that whites(and only whites) are racists against blacks and that's why for some reason they voted Trump over Hillary. If you don't want someone saying hey you're being racist in your assumption then don't make the assessment that such a racist statement is true. There are racists out there, but I'm sorry to say people aren't buying the narrative that the majority or even a mass amount of Americans are racist. Pushing that shit narrative is part of what got Trump elected.

deshaun crawford because he got off that shitty Democratic plantation of trading a shitty ass welfare system for votes of the Democratic party. The same party that founded the KKK. The same party that preaches against racism then takes black father's out of black Holmes through the Democrats crime bill. The same democratic party that puts a clause in welfare where if a woman marries then she is no longer qualified for Gov assistance. Democrats policies have systematically destroyed black Americans while giving them just enough assistance to keep them barely holding on to hope. The Democrats have complete control of the media and they use it to paint a narrative of being pro-black when all they really want is the black vote, and portraying Republicans as bring racist monsters when all we want is to give them a fighting chance. Democrats think that black folks can't do for themselves and need special help because they don't have a workers mentality. Democrats think that black folks aren't go getters or hustlers when nothing could be further from the truth. Black voters are leaving the Democratic party in masses because they been sold out for votes and sold a big government lie of "best interest". I welcome all black folks to the libertarian or Republican party along with gay folks transgender or Latino or Muslim Americans. Libertarians and Republicans believe in the constitution and liberty for ALL Americans regardless of race color or creed. Don't let the main stream Democrat owned media fool you. These old geezers like Dick Cheney and crony Capitalists will be dead soon and the true parties of the American Republic will finally rise with the power of Black folk Asian folk Muslim folk all folks. I invite any person of color or gender identity to talk to a young Republican like me or Libertarian. I used to be a registered Democrat until I found out the truth! I also invite you Ms D to engage in dialogue. Not all Trump Voter's are monsters :) 1 love.

Drood it's because people here have way to much time on their hands. liberals want to feel like they are saving lives constantly so they have to make up problems like this. I know tons of blacks and Hispanics that voted for Trump, on top of that a majority of the white voters that voted for trump,in the last 2 elections also voted for Obama. the people wanted change. and the liberals really didn't like it and the last line of defense when they have no other argument is just to throw out wild accusations. like calling anyone who simply disagrees with them a racist, homophobe, misogynist ext. liberals/sjws say racism and prejudice is still alive? it is, because they won't let it die.

Let's all remember that a racist is someone who denies people of color the right to vote, discriminates against them at work, won't hire them when they are the best candidate, won't let them buy your house when its the one they want. These are all actions that are prescribed by law and racism is against the law. Your not a racist if you hate rap music, think certain black hairstyles are ugly, won't watch certain black entertainment, etc. That is just personal choice. This is not against the law and you are not a racist for those things. I say this to whites because they seem to feel they have to "embrace" black people and blackness in total. No that's not necessary. In fact, that may actually lead to racial animosity.

@nickwilson57118 жыл бұрын
Robyn H. Jimenez The boundaries are blurred and confused. A classic example is that colour / ethnicity preference in relationships is racism which is of course incorrect. However in these days of the SJW that 'prejudice' is only recognised where it is a white person expressing that colour preference. A classic example is Hulk Hogan who expressed a wish that his children married within their ethnicity and he was villified for this. A black person making the same statement its perfectly acceptable. In case you are wondering - I am in a mixed race marriage.

@@theteatv2348 Not even giving it the time. Opinion is one thing. Smear is another. And that is that. @Smart Fart Clearly you only know President Trump with the media. Every single solitary President I have lived through (Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush, Obama) dealt with an onslaught at a constant level of bad press. Especially when FOX became this, and CNN became that. There was not a single night where there was not something in the ether saying these Presidents were destroying the country. Even when Reagan began talks with Gorbechev. THE WORLD IS ENDING!!!!!!!! What happened? Between the two, they brought down the Berlin Wall, unified Germany, and took apart the USSR. I cannot see where the world ended in that, but it was widely said none the less. The difference is.....well, there is actually two. A President who cannot handle a heckler well. He is also not good with criticism of ANY kind. People are great, until they are no longer doing or saying for him. Seen it too many times. And this is now a generation of precious people with I am right and you are wrong because you do not think like me. (And that is both sides.....the comments prove that) I am not full Maga. Never will be. There have been things done, that I will never agree with. And things done that the other side got ate for that has now been done and is okay because President Trump, or the Republican leadership did it. That is not how that works. Not with me. I am also not a never Trumper, because he has done some things, and got some things done that I do agree with. And in all honesty, what truly marked my Ballot for President Elect Biden was not really truly President Trump.......it was the supporters/sycophants. (Yes there is a difference between the two. HUGE difference) When I watched on Facebook, as one of my friends of 30 years told another of my friends they should shoot themselves in the head because they voted on anything democratic.....that kind of stuff crosses my line. Telling a fellow American they should just kill themselves, or they will kill them for voting on a Democratic issue, or being a Democrat. Something changed very fast within the last few years. Party did not trump (no pun) American back then. Now an entire swath of people think party = American, and the rest are not. And the rest deserve death. And that is not America. Never has, and never will be. I am a registered Republican from my home state of Arizona (Was born in Wyoming, but was only there for about 4 months of my life) The shift here is the evidence of what happened. We are a red state yes......but not party red. More akin to the wild west. Right and wrong are a clear definition. The line is not moved to fit, rather it stays in the spot it was drawn. It just is. I mean despite President Obama being far more popular in 2008 then President Elect Biden now......Obama did not get this state either time. President Elect Biden did. The last to get us was Clinton on his second run. Before that was the president running in 1948. 1948 y'all. Now to you Democrats out there. You want to keep Arizona......the shit I am answering to needs to quit like right now. Having an opinion of someone is one thing. A smear is another. When I read "see his orange ass leave" my mind reads "see his black ass leave" Yes it is the same. When you cannot find something to argue, or you feel the need to bring in skin color, background, race, ethnicity, religion, etc. into the point......you lose the point. Example: I have many disagreements with a lot of "The Squad"s policies. (Congresswomen Omar, Cortez, Pressely, and Talib) I lose my ability to argue the policies in a respectful manner, when race and gender are immediately thrown into the conversation. When one drops into the realm of Agent Orange, and shit like that, it makes it real difficult to discuss the actual policies that were bad. And when you do it to an entire group of Republicans that voted for him, because they voted for him.........you will easily make Republicans like me switch my vote immediately on the next go around. I warn you now. President Trump losing was more to do with the climate of the country brought on by the supporters as mentioned before. DO NOT THINK it would not go in the reversal in 4 years because you are acting like the dicks. Do yourself a favor.....find a Republican/Trump supporter out there. They are not happy, as you were not four years ago. Rather than not extending a hand out like was done four years ago......extend your hand out. Let them know you will not move forward without them coming along to. This countries biggest fault is it always leaves some group somewhere behind when moving forward. Don't do it again. Pick these people up, help dust them off, and bring them along. Remember they are Americans first........just like you. And just like you they want to move forward too.

@bahamutskingdom You offer many good points. This very show, although it’s not technically media, but they still offer “news”, practically crucified Bush the younger during his presidency. Now I’m not a Republican by any means, however I can be objective when it comes to politics. Fox News made beaucoup money disparaging Obama during his presidential tenure. So, it’s a commonality that media, or certain entities therein, can be a president’s worst enemy, irrespective of the president’s party affiliation. With all that being said, I understand the need of this nation to heal, and I hope that we can regain the “soul” of the nation. But, I will never break bread or extend an olive branch to a Trump supporter. I’m sorry but that is perhaps the ultimate dealbreaker for me. If you supported an outward racist and voted for him, then there is no discussion that you and I can have. You may see that as a smear and/or a character assassination, and it is, but it’s rooted in fact. I don’t believe all Trump supporters are racists. However, they obviously didn’t preclude racism from their list of prerequisites in endorsing and voting for a candidate for office. And an enabler of racism is just as bad, if not worse - but that’s a separate conversation - than a Klansman himself. I will never advocate for or perform violence upon a Trump supporter. However, I will divorce my affiliation from anyone I find to have supported Trump, with the only exception being, perhaps the occasional pleasantry and salutation.

Broad KZbin statement. Explain? And just because you might agree with her doesn't make your opinion valid. Hell, I'll even go as far as to explain why I think Whoopi is exactly right. The white rust belt angry base that Trump ginned up DID absolutely get motivated by isms. The notion that someone will cater to their needs as white people is what drove them to the polls. The DIFFERENCE is, these are the same white people who were more than happy to agree with that 'pull yourself up by your bootstraps' line of thinking when they were cozy and things were convenient. But when the straits got dire for THEM, then suddenly, the government was broken and someone needed to do something for them yesterday. There wasn't any boostrapping or alternatives or trying harder. Someone needed to fix their problems. People of color ask for the same provisions, they're entitled or lazy. White people do it, they're angry and unheard. But let's say for the sake of argument that the jobs issue was the sole issue on the table. It's valid...both Bush and Obama did little to help the economies of the Rust Belt region and the Deep South where Trump carried the day. Here's a newsflash though...they CAN'T. There is nothing greedy corporations like better than increased profit margins. And it is simply cheaper to produce your industry overseas with non unionized, cheap foreign labor, than it is to hire those folks from Dearborn, Detroit, Youngstown, and Pittsburgh. Period. No amount of rhetoric from Trump is going to bring those jobs back. And lastly...the last I checked, standing up for someone else doesn't keep jobs away. Let's say the bulk of these people aren't the ones making threats to blacks and Muslims and LGBTQ people and immigrant/Hispanics. Well, for all their bluster about everything else, they have been deafening in their silence when it comes to that. Nothing says complicit more than silence over wrongdoing. And to see people like this woman go out of their way to deny it says to me they either a) don't care or b) agree with what's going on. I don't have to be gay to think gay people deserve the same rights and opportunities as Americans that I do. I don't have to be Muslim to feel like they should have their FIrst Amendment rights to exercise their religion defended. At the end of the day, it's not JUST TRUMP. It's the people he has emboldened with that inflammatory talk. Deny deny deny, but here's the newsflash...the truth of conservative bigotry does not need conservative consent to exist. It definitely does not need other conservatives to validate it. Their myopia about it speaks volumes. It takes very little effort to stand up for basic human decency. When so many people in a political party go out of their way to avoid doing it...well, that tells me all I need to know.

There has always been a major party in this country that pandered to lower class white men which have fought against non-white rights to work and live. Non-white people did not have social security or a 5 day work week until several years after white people, and Indian and Asian immigrants lost their status as a preference for immigration after they were designated as "non-white," not to mention their business in a number of supreme court cases. You're right. You didn't have to vote for either one, you could of voted for the other two very small candidates, or just wrote someone else in. Obama is way more popular than Hillary so is not a crazy thought to suggest he could've won a third term.
@sinastaninja7 жыл бұрын
No one is saying she lost because of whitewash. He was saying that it was A FACTOR out of MANY. He was just nothing that many white people seem to gloss over that factor that helped him win. There are a multitude of factors that helped Trump win, but we can not ignore the fact that bigotry was also a factor.
@walterhigo76587 жыл бұрын
sinastaninja Sorry but that does not fly here. The time for TRUE RACIST REPUBLICAN to vote with an "anti-black" sentiment would have been two terms ago when Barack Obama ran for president, and as we all know Obama won both terms. This time around Trump got more votes from BLACKS, latinos and women than did Mitt Romney or McCain, so the "race issue" does not appear to have been a factor here. This was an "ANTI-ESTABLISHMENT LASH" PERIOD.

That's interesting considering whites are the ones who invented the guns and white supremacist are the ones who started using guns because they couldn't win a fight with a black man by hand. In jim crow Times they use to jump black men a group against one because white people have always been afraid of black peoples physical abilities that's why they needed a gun to keep slaves in check fear.That's why when cops pull over black men they need 4 cop cars for one suspect fear. Not fear of a gun because most were shot unarmed so it had to be fear of physical strength. They also needed to use other black people to capture black people for slavery because yall couldn't catch us by yourselves.

Going all the way back to Reagan and Nixon, they always go after programs that help the poor. History and the actual number of people of color that have lost benefits proves you wrong. I'm talking actual people in Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Michigan. Thousands have lost their apartments in the past 9 months. I am helping one person who lost their housing support in a program where over one hundred people, mostly minorities, have all been forced to move. Sometimes when I see or hear "all White people.. fill in the blank with whatever people hate about us" I just think.. that is lumping us a group in and classifying all of our behavior. I voted for Obama twice, but he didn't do jack for me. As a teacher he did nothing, but send around that clown show with Al Sharpton and Newt Gingrich to promote charter schools while starving public schools of fund. As as white man in Philly I still remember the New Black Panthers "guarding" a voting place during the 2nd Obama run. His attorney general, Eric Holder, let them off the hook.
@PatrickEvina48916 күн бұрын
I hope you know that Congress votes on a budget annually, and public school funding is included in that budget. The issue with Obama is that he only had a Democratic (favorable) Congress for 2 out of the 8 years of his Presidency. In 2010, Republicans took control of the House of Representatives and in 2014, Republicans won the majority in the Senate. This means that between 2010 and 2016 (six whole years of his two terms), Obama couldn’t really enact his policies. Republicans gleefully turned into obstructionists, especially Mitch McConnell who vowed to make sure Obama was a one-term president. Remember when he blocked Obama from nominating a Supreme Court judge? Too bad that the people who voted for Obama gave up on the Congressional races after 2010, rendering Obama powerless. So I suspect that your public school funding grievance was caused by this unfortunate surrender by the Obama voters after 2010. They completely gave up on making sure Obama had a favorable Congress that could enact his agenda.
