If you choose to run for President of the United States and you have pending criminal charges against you, you need to agree to an expedited trial that must come to a decision before you are ever selected to be the final party candidate. One is not forced to run for office, it is a choice. If you have attorneys who are willing to exploit the system to the fullest (money talks here), then you are within your rights to object and appeal (within the confines of law) all the way to SCOTUS. True story : I travel a lot in my business . Back in 2016 I would finish working , grab a take-out and rush to the hotel room to watch the GOP debates . I thought it was funny AF . It was like watching a 3 Stooges episode for the first time as a kid . Watching a GOP candidate debate to me was like watching a clown car . The ONLY one on that stage I never laughed at was Kasich . I didn’t agree with his conservative politics but you could tell he was civil, competent and genuinely intelligent . Which, of course , meant he had no chance lol. Republicans love a little craycray in their politicians - I always knew that . But Trump satiated that desire for craycray like heroin satisfied a heroin addict . I’ve told several people the past five years or so that if Kasich had been the GOP nominee back in 2016 he would’ve mopped the floor with Hillary, not barely squeak by like Trump did . For Democrats , Kasich would’ve been much more hard to get rid of than Trump . Right now , if GOP voters liked competence more than they do craycray ,we would’ve had EIGHT years of Kasich ( 2017-2025) followed more than likely by another GOP POTUS to replace him in 25. Instead , the GOP not only has this gigantic Trumpian mess to deal with , Trump will end up destroying the GOP just like I predicted the day after he won in Nov 16. I have my popcorn 🍿 popped and it’s showtime again ! GOP politicians - the humor that is non-stop ( when they aren’t effing up the country .)

This didn't have to be "an October surprise". The ONLY reason it's coming out now rather than months ago is because Trump did everything he could to delay the trial. If the trial had proceeded as originally scheduled, it would have been over by now. And don't forget, that the Supreme Court waited a long time to make its decision, and then they explicitly told this judge that she needed to determine what was an official act and what wasn't, thus necessitating this filing. So if you want to blame anyone, blame Trump's counsel and the Supreme Court for the delays.
