I made the same mistake on a Vintage SG and used the Gibson Polish. Amazing! It removed all the cloudy stuff easily and left a beautiful glossy finish.

The Gibson branded polish did absolutely nothing to fix my cloudy mess!! I tried it first as I always have some on hand. I'm glad it worked for you though!

If you want to take those scratch out of your Les Paul and they are not to deep, use Mequire's Scratch X. Apply about a dime size drop and work it lightly back and forth. If needed you can apply it a few times. After you get the scratches worked out then use Nomads guitar polish and buff it out. Make sure you use a separate polish cloth. After the Nomad polish the hit it with a spray guitar polish like Fender Custom Shop polish. It will look as good as new. I took a 2021 Gibson Les Paul Standard 50s that had scratches in the finish and some light buckle rash on the back. It work absolutely perfect. The guitar looks brand new again. You can't even tell they were ever there. Couldn't happier with the results I got and I am a picky S O B 😉👍

My new Les Paul doesn't like sweat, it's permanently marked, especially on the back and I can't get rid of the haze even with music nomad stuff, maybe I'll give virtuoso a try.

I started to notice some haziness from sweat on my ‘71 P-bass, so then what happened was I tried to clean it with a wet rag and mild soap. I dried it right off but it left hazy streaks. I’m going to get these products and consider them something necessary for part of maintaining a guitar with a nitro finish. Thanks for the video
@billsmith30423 жыл бұрын
This polish is amazing it is literally the only thing that removed all the haze from my d35 and made it look like new again. The whole back was cloudy from sweat as was the top side and this stuff almost immediately got everything off. Didn't even have to use a cleaner really.

Do think this stuff would work (not could work???) on an acoustic that has BAD air moisture damage trapped under the finish from keeping it in a humid basement for years inside a loose locked case? I’ve got ugly ugly clouds all over the back and sides!!

@@ironman1290 cloud and haze are different. if its too deep this will not work but no harm in trying.

Thanks man, i just bought i used Pelham Blue Gibson Midtown with p90's and needed to clean it badly. While doing my regular cleaning routine i got some whitewash so i am definitely going to try these product tp clean it up! Its weird cause i use 96% cleaning alcohol(Ketonatus) on my other guitars al the time and it cleans up everything perfect. Finish it off with some polish and the guitars shine like mirrors. I guess its just that nitro finish reacting to the alcohol.

Dude, awesome video! I’m gunna try this on my D35. Couple years ago me and the family were in the back yard playing guitar around a campfire and I had forgotten I put bug spray on. The bug spray on my arm burnt the top and sides of my new at the time D35 dream guitar. I’ve since gotten over it but if I can get it to buff out then I will! Thanks!!

Dude I literally just had one of those instant regret moments on one of my favorite guitars also. Had a polytune clipped to the pocket of my shorts and scratched the back plate and made scratches in the nitro finish of the back of my Gibson Custom Shop LP, feel like a complete idiot and instantly regret forgetting it was in my pocket. I can replace the plastic back plate but have no idea what to safely do to remediate the scratches in the nitro. They are not through the finish, just in the nitro, can feel a couple of them with my finger nail. Any legit advice from folks will be appreciated, I am doing my research. I am probably going to call Gibson to see what advice they have. If I have to live with it, so be it, I don't want to take risks either and make matters worse. I also have the Virtuoso products in your video and am going to try that. Curious if you ever found a solution for your scratches.

How can i know if my guitar has a nitrocellulose finish? I did something to my black Tele's finish a few years ago, and i can't polish it anymore with a clean cloth. It looks dull and cloudy. I forget if i used damp cloth or if i use alcohol like you did but it took away the shine.

Sounds like nitro, but virtuoso works on poly as well!!

@@jpollard3 But $73.00 to buy it on Amazon. I didn't even check for the shipping costs. Seems like i'll use it only once. Might as well as a luthier to clean it, might be less expensive? Not sure. Oh wait , i just saw a SINGLE bottle for about $20.00

Say hey buddy! I've got an old Yamaha LL acoustic with rosewood back and sides. The finish looks God awful with many cloudy splotches all over the thing. Would this work on a semi-hollow guitar with a nitro finish that has some clouding/hazy film from playing an outdoor gig and wearing suntan lotion and having my arm resting on the side of the top?
@jpollard32 жыл бұрын
That’s very specific! I have not tried this specific scenario so I can’t say for certain one way or another. I don’t think it could really make matters worse and it sounds like a very similar situation to mine. If I had to make a wager it would be that it will work wonders, but obviously I can’t guarantee that. It’s a try at your own risk situation. If it were my guitar this is exactly what I would try though.
