I read Ryan Stiles hates this game because he doesn't like singing and has trouble making up rhymes on the spot. That's why he's last, so he has more time to think up something. They're usually the best ones IMO.

If you watch the bloopers and see how many times they have to keep redoing the hoedowns, you'd understand. (There's a weird British producer who sensors most of the things they say and makes them do hoedowns over and over again until HE thinks they're okay).

The weird British producer is following the rules of the FCC which ABC, the network that aired the show, has to abide by. He wasn’t just imposing his sense of taste on the show. He knew that it would be a gigantic waste of time and money to produce a show that couldn’t be aired.

They tended to shoot a couple of episodes a time, so they're not there for just 30 minutes, sometimes they could be there for 12 or 16 hours. Ryan has the hardest Job being at the end. Also if for any reason a hoedown goes wrong or isn't accepted by the censor, they have to redo them from the start. This particular hoedown could have been the 6 time of trying on the 3rd episode they shot that day. Ryan hates the hoedowns anyway, and this could well have been one too many and he was just tired.

On the contrary, it's actually easier to go last, than it is to go first. You have a good 2-3 minutes to think of something, while the first person may only get about 20-30 seconds. We do hoedowns with my theatre troupe all the time, and the last one is usually one of the cleverest.
