Inappropriate field trips for elementary school kids: When I was in elementary school(not more than 7-10 years old) they loaded us up and took us to a meat packing plant. They didn't actually kill any cows right in front of us, but they showed us the device they used to do it. Then we saw a big conveyor thing with skinned cows hanging from hooks moving along. At the end of the tour they gave us each a freshly made hot dog to eat. I'm surprised I didn't become a vegetarian after that experience.
