Also there is a plastic wedge that comes with the stock that fits into the stock to the right of the receiver, you will see a little slot. The slot is there for the safety lever on a timney trigger

I got my mosin 25 or so years ago paid $59 each. One is a 1936 and the the other is 1943. The 36 fit and finish is really good. The 43 is rough, gouge marks no deburring at all. You can tell by the war years they where pumping them out. Cosmetics did not matter. I modified the 43 and left the 36 all original because of it's condition. Thanks for the videos.

I’ve had a M-44, 1944, for about 20 years. The M-44 is the short barrel with the fold-out bayonet. About 5 years ago I stripped the finish and stained it ebony. Looks pretty sweet. Fun gun to have in the stable!!!

I have the same stock. I also added the Timney trigger which added a manual safety. I mounted a Vortec scope on a scout mount. It mounts in place of the rear site. Mine did not need the v-block to group well but some do. Enjoy! Edit: 10 round mags are also available.

I’m not a fan of plastic stocks, but it seems a lot people like these, and if this fits your style, go for it! But do not forget the function! Two must haves are a Timiny Trigger and a Rock Solid Industries scope mount base. The scope base will need drilling and tapping to install, but no other scope mount base comes close to the Rock Solid Industries scope mount !

I used a generic picatinny bar on mine drilled/tapped and my scope is solid and right where I want it and the cost was about $1.75 for the whole mod.

I did that same conversion to my Mosin and bought several 10 round magazine and two spam cans of Russian ammo. In fact I shortened the barrel by 6 inches and recrowned the muzzle. It takes Hawaiian Hogs and 150 yards easily. Aloha 🤙great video

I personally prefer the old stock. There are plenty of cheap modern rifles you can drop into aftermarket stocks, but there are also plenty of mosins out there so no harm done. Do what you like, have fun shooting it. I'm curious to see how grouping is effected by the change in stock.
@gamerbg294
@gamerbg294 2 жыл бұрын
When the ar-15 was created it didn't have much modularity, but as time went changes were made that allowed greater modularity, so I don't see any problem taking an "old" rifle and making it more modular. Even more considering that the mosin is known to have ergonomic issues (aside from changing loading with a clip to a magazine).

My friend gave me his mosin and did the same stock upgrade and honestly it made it more comfortable to shoot. As far as the accuracy goes that feels about the same with new as it did with the old stock.

Common misconception, grouping is actually only affected by where you point the gun. Unless you got one of those first gen m16 stocks, your stock/grips/stance won’t affect your grouping as drastically as some may think. Your aim and recoil control however, will.

I put the same stock on one of my mosin's. Mine is tan and really improves the overall looks and performance. I want to cut the barrel down to 22" and thread it. Also installed the brass stacker scope mount with a LER scope. Also installed a timney trigger.

I bought that stock for my Mosin Carbine, it was ok but I had to remove some stock material to get the trigger to move freely. Ultimately, I went back to the wooden stock and I’m glad I did. Depending on what you want to do, it’s not a bad way to go, I just realized I’m a little bit more of a traditionalist than I thought.

I installed one of these on my sons Ruger 10/22. A Volquartsen carbon fiber barrel and trigger assembly. The fitment is tricky but once in correctly it's well supported and fully floated. I also inked the chamber face and worked the bolt. Removing slowly and carefully enough metal on the bolt face to square it up. This little fellow will now shoot rings around what it did originally. With CCI standard velocity the groups are very impressive. Also Midas + , Wolf and Center X. According to what accuracy you want. Lots of folks use Green Mountain? barrels with excellent outcome. The adjustable stock is fantastic on the Archangel stock. Nice video! Keep'em coming!

very nice. did all that with a synthetic stock and bedded the gun. But here is the number one thing I did and actually used the wooden stock again. After a good bore clean. I took off the top wood cover. I ran a dry tight cotton fairly patch slowly through the bore from the breech. When I came to an area that felt a marginally looser. I stoped and market the area. I had three areas like that. I went to Hobby Lobby and bought the thin cork sheets that go in drawers of desks. I made a one inch cork ring around the areas that felt less tight. I replaced the top wood cover, slid the rings in place. I got the harmonics correct and the gun became a MOA gun at 100 yards with Tula 148gr. I used a Badace scope mount and it shoots out to 1,000 yards now. I did pilot the bolt holes prior. But the cork rings is what did the trick.

Did the same to mine a few years back, knocked out the rear sight to install a scope mount and Timney Trigger. Kept all parts together in case I ever decide to switch back. Not sure if something they made 37 million+ of is a real collectable, but Arkangel does make it a better every day shooter and more practical for todays world. You should have fun shooting that when all done, looking forward to the vid on that. Love the channel, keep up the excellent work.

Since I'm 1,000 years old I prefer the lovely wood stock. I do like the removable magazine. I do have a savage in 7MM-08 with a plastic or whatever it's made out stock that's weatherproof. It's so ugly that it's beautiful. I used camo Rustolieum on my Remington Model 870 Wingmaster pump to keep the ducks from flaring and it is ugly but practical. So, in the end your new stock looks kind of cool to me and I could easily get used to it when in the deer woods. Awe Heck I like your Commie Rifle a lot.

Once I purchase a gun, I have no intentions of ever selling it. What I purchase is for my personal use and taste. I inherited a k98k from my grandfather who was a German fighter pilot, he took it home after the war ended. It clearly got use during the war, I refinished it to make it look brand new, no it still has all the matching numbers and marking clearly visible. Several people told me I should have left it in it's original condition, I told them them, they can do that if they can get their own k98k. So if this floats your boat, good for you.

I bought two Mosin Nagant 9130's in 2017 for $146.00 for both of them, One was made in 1932 and the other was made in 1943. the 1932, I cut the barrel down by an inch and a half and threaded the barrel and installed a really nice flash suppressor, it has 3 slots on either side and two holes in the top and it helps to keep the barrel from rising. Wasn't a big fan of the original trigger, so installed a Timney trigger and installed an Aim Sports 3-9x40mm scope and oh, howdy! It groups nicely at 500yds with no problem. I did use the V-block on mine. Incidentally the flash suppressor was an 1 1/2", so it's still a 28inch barrel.

I like the idea of bridge-mounts for retrofittings. The top rails that reach around & mount to the bottom of the firearm like the old way of running a dot sight on a pistol. You can drill & tap certain areas in the receiver & near the chamber but thats a job for a gunsmith really. Taking off the furniture & dropping it into a chassis is something anyone should be able to perform, risk free.

When I cleaned all the cosmoline off my 1943 Mosin and sanded the varnish off ti refinish with tried and true Birchwood Casey's Gun stock oil and wax...I discovered war time kill marks on the right side of the butt stock from the soldier who used this in battle..live the history of these tanks of a battle rifle...I lucked out and got this one with a pristine bore and over all rifling is almost mint. I got this one from my brother for 50 bucks. .lmk how this stock change goes I wanna due the same...cool thing is you don't have to cut up the og stock and you and make one hell of a tack driver poor man's 30.06!! My Gramps did the same to his in the 50s sporterizing it himself...that was his only hunting rifle for decades...put many big Muley's and Elk and even a 400 pound black bear with his 1930s Mosin...If I get this stock I will definitely drop the timney trigger for sure...there cheap and make it so much better.

My first Mosin M91/30 was a beat-to-shit, non-refurbished 1943 Izhevsk. It was so shitty, that I could jolt the rifle violent with both hands to the left, and it would be able to dislodge the bolt, then I could jolt it back, causing the bolt to go rearwards, then I could jolt it forward, chambering a round, then jolt it down, locking the bolt. The bolt was so loose that I could do a mad minute -- with a Mosin. It was so smooth, that it would wobble probably a ¼ of an inch when fully cocked back. Man... I miss that garbage rod.

If you wanna play around with scopes on that rifle, I would suggest a new bolt body with a bent bolt or have yours modified and put a Bad Ace Tactical mount on it. That mount is solid and no drilling or tapping needed. Putting my Mosin in the Boyds stock, free floating the barrel, bent bolt, Bad Ace Tactical Scope mount, and a Stryka 4-12x50 scope, my groups got much better. I've had great luck with the 182 grain Yugo surplus ammo. 200 grain wolf and 180 grain Winchester shoots pretty good too.

It's been a while since my Mosin but if I remember correctly the iron sights can be removed by driving out some pins. There is a .22 rifle-size dovetail under the sights. It will only fit .22 rifle rings. I don't remember if there is an adaptor for a larger scope. Also with it that far forward you might want to use a pistol scope with a more extended eye relief.

It's the man's rifle. He wants to make shooting it more fun and interesting by making changes. Not a thing wrong with it. Yep, I also like historically accurate firearms, but I also like to play "what if" and see the art of the possible. If it's sacrilege, go adopt your own Mosin Nagant and save it from the mods of a "madman." Very interested to see how it shoots, myself.

While I like the wood stock the poly furniture is looking sweet plus it’s all personal choice. Hopefully the scope mount works out as well.

Hopefully you have groups with both stocks, if you don’t who cares so long as you happy with the kit you chose, that’s the most important bit!

Cool stock! There is a bunch of different ways to scope that gun.... Also a couple trigger mods, one is extremely cheap and works!!! Spring and 2 washers! At one time back in 2008 they were 80 bucks!

Personally I love modding these old war horses. With that being a laminated stock that was on it, it was likely factory refurbished for export sales. That's the way my Russian SKS is. Also the Mosin these days can still be had for a few hundred bucks. Adding that stock just increases the value.

I look at it like this. It's your gun do what you want. Especially if it takes it from being a closet doorstop to in the field. What do I know. I'm not an online gun god😂

WTW, very cool, I like it, good job on installing the new stock. I'm looking forward to you shooting it at the range! I'm going to text my buddy with this vid in case he missed it. He's also got a Mosin Nagant with the old school wood stock.

That black stock need some upgrade, maybe a light grey, darker gray and black camo. But keep the original stock and the other pieces. Or maybe try to get a carbin model (I think there is out there a late war model with a short barrel) with a really bad wooden stock and switch to that instead for a hunting rifle. With modern loadings the longer barrel is probably not necessary. Or just find a barreld action and let a gunsmith take off some inches. as You probably have to use the rear sights position to add a scope mount, then You will have 2 MNs 1 original and one hunter.
