My first Ruger American was also a .308, but mine was an 18" barreled youth model I bought for $260. I wanted a shorter barrel for close in thick woods hunting and put a full size stock on it. Since then I bought a Gen II .308 standard, a Gen II Ranch .308, a.450 Bushmaster Ranch rifle and a Gen II .450 Bushmaster Ranch, two .223/5.56 NATO Ranch rifles, a 6mm Creedmoor Predator and two .350 Legacy Ranch rifles. Lastly a somewhat rare .358 Win. 18" barreled Ruger American Carbine of which they only made 300 on a special order. All are very good shooters. To be honest, I didn't realize how many I had until I started listing them here. Good hunting everyone!

Can’t wait for this video! You really are god sent for us budget hunters. Really is depressing when gun tubers only hunt with 4,000 dollar combos and that’s all they recommend but is refreshing when you do the same stuff with a ruger american and arken scope costing under a grand!

Good afternoon! Thanks to you and the Backfire channel, when I was in a good spot to get a slinger, I ended up getting The Ruger Am Go Wild in 6.5CM. Definately a happy purchase. Hitting sub MOA at 200 yds with Fed Whitetail 120 OTM and S&B 140 FMJBT. Had it as far as plinking IPSC Steels out to 400 no problem. Got the wife shooting it too. What ever makes you and you family happy!

The Ruger American is chambered for almost any round on the market and for it's price it's almost a no brainer. Definitely the first place ya should look when looking at trying out a new round. Savage is trying to follow that philosophy and doing a pretty good job at that affordable price and variety of round options market now too and is another great option that should be checked out when looking to try something new. Nice collection !!

Here is a change of pace. A cheap Mossburg 500 in 20ga. I bought it with a bent barrel from a store I worked at. Someone took it in used, I got it very cheap, with other guys laughing at me. I put a 24” rifled barrel on it and killed me biggest Whitetail buck (10 points 220#) in a pouring rainstorm. I measured it at just short of making B&C. It ended up being my dad’s last hunt and hangs on the living room wall as a reminder of that day. I passed it on to my supervisor for his dad to use.
