This is my daily driver right now, it is an incredible boat! It’s like a sporty creeker! It launches off of everything! Once you get that balance point it is incredibly stable!

@austinshellhammer I’ve only paddled one once what do you mean by balance point - you meant seating in terms of the kick rocker it helps with the kayaks lateral stability? I’ve always been recommended one of these but I always felt squirrely…

Man, Wade you nailed the magic of the P. Braaap in your vid. P. Braaap has been my favorite boat for the last 2.5 years now. Paddled an Axiom 8.5 for a couple years before that, and just recently picked up a Rewind M. The Braaap just has a fluid feel on the water and handles everything from big water to rock-contact-creeking with ease. Agree that the Rewind is more of a playful stern and that is also its downfall for making it an all-arounder for me. That wide-thin-flat stern shape has resulted in more than a few back-enders where the P. Braaap would have released and not went totally over backwards due to the narrower stern deck with more volume and less flat surface area to catch the flow. Been going back and forth between the two for a few months and like both, but if I had to sell one, I would keep the P. Braaap 100%. Gonna be a classic for decades I think.

I agree I had a rewind for about a year and a half and now I'm on to the party braap now. I love both in different ways but I do prefer the party braap for the green so far. I'll miss the rewind on steep rivers like the Cheoah, pigeon dries, and Russell fork. I guess it comes down to personal preference and displacement vs. planing. Both squirt and splat really well.

Watched a lot of your videos. Always great and informative. Only suggestion would be maybe say what river you are on because they often look like good ones but have no idea where they are. Thanks for all the info! I’m sure takes a lot of time and effort so appreciate it!

@@WadeHarrison I agree with everything you’ve said. I agree with the boat being squirrely, and lacking primary stability...I’ve found that it is happiest when on edge (definitely not a floater)

In the initial discussion you explain how the Party Braaap is a ‘sandbagged’ Braaap, and you say something like “…Braaap, which is ridiculous, I don’t think there is a place for the Braaap for me…”, could you please expand on that? I own a Braaap, but am on the fence about it. I’m a river runner predominantly, not a play boater. Also, thank you for all your reviews, Wade.
@WadeHarrison
@WadeHarrison 2 жыл бұрын
Good question the party version is like a perfect mix of a river runner with a ability to stern turn and splat but not so low volume that it’s a totally different boat that tail loads everywhere the braaap was already really good the party version just makes it that much better in my opinion so if had to choose I would go party version
@peterryan8452
@peterryan8452 2 жыл бұрын
@@WadeHarrison Thank you, sir. As I understand your replay, you prefer the P Braaap bc it enhanced your ability to stern turn and spat over the original w/out diminishing its river runner qualities or causing it to tail load always?

I paddle a party braaap and love that thing and I’m only like 135😂 I got my seat like alllll the way back, Throwing it down is not easy at all. Plus I heard a lot of folk doesn’t like the displacement hull on it but like you kind of get used to it over time. Dude!! You gotta try out the mullet it’s a very interesting boat, I paddled one of my friend the other day and it was something else, it is a different beast.

Seekers, I just bought a mullet myself only because I’m right on the end of the weight range for the braaap. I love everything about it and was very surprised at how little of current it takes to get it vertical. As for holding it there, I’m not so sure of yet considering I just started doing tailee’s so I’m not quite there in skill yet

What is it about the normal braaap you have issues with, that are somehow solved with the p. braaap?
@WadeHarrison
@WadeHarrison 3 жыл бұрын
The lower volume tail gives you at least some play option. And paddling down river and off drops it’s gives you more ability to load the low volume stern to get over things. All that is not there in the Reg braaap

Wade Harrison thanks for the feedback. I’m on the waiting list for the alpha 75 and find your reviews to be the best out there. Your on the water and walk around reviews both. Thanks for all you postings. Most informative for those of not necessarily near enough to a shop to do regular demos.

Good review! I have a normal Braaap that I am considering squishing the stern of and turning it into a party.. What do you think? Worth it or too risky to weaken the hull?
@WadeHarrison

Personally I would try to sell it and just start fresh with a party braap if you really like the design because cooling the plastic right out the oven is the way to go but it’s not that difficult to squash one

Interesting and useful to get your take as always. As I watched this video I was reminded of an RPM (bow, no edges, for example). Not sure if this was a valid comparison in any way? (And then YT had your older video of an RPM run on I think the same river section in the next video suggestions. Spooky!)

I love this boat, I paddle it with the seat slightly back from center and it really unlocks the kick rocker, stands right up and is super balanced on stern. Nice to see a proper review, it seems a lot of people paddle it and dislike it at first but once they adjust(the seat or their form) they fall in love. Thanks man!
