I started to say i never knew this was even there, i grew up in Elmore. after looking at the map i see it was just empty land while i was still living there lol Cool to see some life come to the area and not run down vacant lots and fields anymore. Having places like this to spend idle time with friends and fam would have been awesome growing up

This looks shaweet!!! Do you have any connections for someone to talk to about how and what the process was to get the city to put one of these in? If San Diego had one of these I bet it would be a hit. With the outdoor community here having an option to raft or kayak would unreal for everyone.

@brianscythes3273 Жыл бұрын
Me too! I sat in the 242 a couple days ago and it fit comfortably at 6’1” 200. Still haven’t got to see the 252 in person to see how it looks next to a 242. I can’t make my mind up between the 252 and 242.

Idk ab this. Charlottes drops are not as steep. Granted we just ran it. October 5. Holes more retentive. Steeper drops into holes on creek channel than wilderness in Charlotte. I was in a full slice but still. Charlotte has it dialed in. Mont has some adjustments to make I think. Lots of surging
@Robert-1969-1 Жыл бұрын
@@justin_other_kayaker When did you run Charlotte? They've had an issue with the pumps this year and have been only able to run 5 most of the time. That 6th pump make a difference.
@justin_other_kayaker Жыл бұрын
@@Robert-1969-1 it was in March. My overral opinion of Montgomery is it’s more exciting but also more dynamic. It’s narrower than Charlotte. More drops. And steeper drops.

I prefer a natural river or creek too, but these parks are nice when you can't get a crew together to paddle your local run and especially nice when everything is dry. Also great for instruction and confidence building for beginners. If a whitewater park grows the sport, we should all support them. That is my opinion, or $25.02 plus fuel.
@WadeHarrison Жыл бұрын
It’s 25$ and 49$ to raft for the entire day actually pretty good I think and look at where this is yeah I’m in western NC with 100 different free flowing options but this is mid to southern Alabama very limited to close whitewater and you can apply that logic to anything why pay to climb inside why pay for bike parks why pay to ski or swimming when it’s all outside list goes on and on I feel these parks definitely have a place
@WadeHarrison Жыл бұрын
Well said Brianscythes that’s why i decided to make a video on this place to try to get more word out on it

Hyper Chlorinated and and drenching with chemicals: "Water quality looks spectacular!" 😂😂 I'm sure it's better than river going through cities, but a bunch of blue dye doesn't mean it is as good as the water coming off the mtns :P
