Growing up in souther wv in the 70s and 80s 22mag and 22lr were a staple all my hunting buddies had both. Small game, deer, hogs and black bear have been killed by both 22 cal rounds. This is fact. As a shtf or a survival wepon it is a great choice.ammo is relatively cheep and plentiful. Easy to carry and very accurate. Most homes and stores have 22lr or22mag in stock.in my personal opinion it is a great choice. I am a retired gunsmith and a shooter for over 40+ years

Thank you for your comment sir. I chose it because I know it certainly is nothing to be underestimated. I grew around the mountains of NC myself and have seen it action. People always think of a 22lr and never realize that the magnum is a whole other game within itself. About 800 to 1000 fps more in speed and it will kill a deer.

Hey fellow "hillbilly" I'm in Eastern KY. We used to hunt anything and everything with those same cartridges. I remember fondly a scoped Feather AT-22 (22LR) and Marlin 25M (22WMR). We'd take head shots on Wild Turkey and Deer. The Turkey's were a fun challenge because the head's so small and it bobs around a lot! Fun times!

I noticed that this is your most viewed video, I suggest a part 2 on penetration test on 25 meters, 50 & 100 to validate if 22 mag can be used at practical distances. Kept it up!!

Good idea. I just recently deleted my most viewed video which was on Hi-Point pistols. It had 18k views. I just didn't want people to think they can just hang around until I put out another Hi-Point video. I just deleted a lot of them. Some was popular when I made them, but started getting next to no views. It's no the first time I deleted so much. Sometimes I do it just because the terms of KZbin changes and it's to controversial for that time period.

I'd make the argument for .32 S&W (and Long and H&R mag). For one, these are small rounds like the .22 LR and mag. But unlike the rimfires, you can reload these. They are low pressure so the brass can be cycled many times before they need to be scrapped or annealed. The .32 S&W is subsonic. You can get many small revolvers for it like Smith and Wesson 632 or Model 30 and Rossis and Tauruses. But best of all, you can get .32 cal chamber inserts for surplus .303 british rifles. Firing the low pressure .32 S&W out of those long barrels is REALLY quiet and allows you to discretely harvest game. It's no louder than an air rifle, but you get about 250 ft/lbs out of those long barrels. That's about .22 Mag territory, right? It's as quiet as a suppressed gun and you don't need a tax stamp. Don't overlook the humble .32 S&W!

I have a lot of calibers but I have renctly been thinking this as well,u can carry 1000 rounds of 22 mag on you no problem, and the guns are lighter I think when 5.56 and the main cartridges run out during shtf the ones that are still going to be available and easier and cheaper to get will be 22lr 22 wmr and some of the smaller calibers, yes we want our main guns and battle rifles but I guarantee u when everything runs dry your gonna want a 22 magnum or 22lr. Especially if you have to make a run for it and can’t carry 200 pounds of 5.56 everyone should have 22 magnum in there shtf stash 22lr is nice but 22 wmr is a step up

I can totally agree with that statement my friend. See you on the other side

I had a 22 wmr I bought for this reasons. Only drawback is that in a semi auto rifle it jams a lot. A revolver rifle and revolver pistol shooting this round would be really good. You can put a 10 or 15 rounds in your pocket and not even notice. One thing you missed is that most 22 wmr bullets are slinging at that higher velocity, but also the bullets are usually 35 or 40 grains whereas the 22 lr is usually 30 or 35.

Loud in shtf though.alerts every insurgent within 5 miles.🤣pcps with slugs on the other hand..silent and nice out to 100 yds.not as cheap to buy but good resale value

Well that's your opinion and I respect that either way
