i always wondered how 4kids would handle the Sanji moment in Whole Cake island where he's desperately trying to light his cigarette in the rain. would he be struggling to unwrap a lollypop or something lol?

So I'm told that they considered giving Sanji a French accent (which I think would have gone over better), but decided not to because Mihawk was introduced the same arc and for whatever reason the guy that looks kinda like Dracula just had to have a French accent, so they made Sanji from Brooklyn instead. Fun Fact: the actor that voiced Sanji (David Moo) in that dub retired from voice acting, and now owns a bar in Brooklyn. I wonder if they serve lollipops there...

@@AnimeFaze-w1s Viz first translated it as Zoro in the volumes they published before the 4kids anime. as far as I know they changed it to Zolo specifically because they didn't want a discrepancy after the dub decided to use an L for some reason. The only reason it hasn't changed back is because they've released so many chapters with Zolo that they're basically stuck with it

Sanji’s ridiculous voice is killing me, lol. It’s worse than Joey’s voice from Yu-gi-oh’s dub. Just in case anyone is interested, “Mask of Zorro” actually is really good. 1998 so not super old either 😂

Fun fact my introduction to One Piece was my College’s Anime club as it was a popular request for viewing nights, saw the first 3 episodes and was hooked though after that we never viewed it again… years later still in college saw fox announce it would be in the 4kids block… when I first heard that god awful rap I was like, “is my memory really this bad… this shits awful”

I’m surprised that you didn’t mention that similar to the laboon situation they cut out little garden (between wispy peaks and drum island). also speaking of laboon if 4 kids had kept going, then what about brook and laboon. If they skipped him then that would cause a problem with how brook would join the crew

I used to watch the 4Kids dub back when it came on 4kids block on Fox's Saturday morning cartoons as well as when it was on Toonami's block airing on Cartoon Network. However I do not recall the 4Kids dub ending with the ship falling about to crush them. I want to say that I remember them going up to Skypiea, because I remember the cloud scooter that Nami rode during this arc. That is about as much as I can remember from the 4Kids dub though, I wonder if anyone else that was old enough to have watched it when it aired on tv can confirm how far it had actually gone.
