Hi, just wanna say thank you for having the interest to make this, as local Singaporean I wanna nick-pick the mistake at 6:23 - Do not that there is a difference between the race ‘Malay’ and the nationality ‘Malaysian’. They don’t mean the same. For example, you can have a ‘Malay’ Singaporean & ‘Malay’ Malaysian.

Just like don't mistaken Chinese to mean Chinese nationals. Chinese is a race, while Chinese nationals are those from China. So in the world, there are Singaporean Chinese, Taiwanese Chinese, Malaysian Chinese, Thai Chinese, Indonesian Chinese, Vietnamese Chinese, American Chinese, etc. BTW, all these Chinese don't look the same, and the can be distinguished easily by their look or language accents.

Using the word slums is not apt. Most of the homes and villages that were resettled were legally owned land in good repair. Of course 78% live in Public Housing, they acquired our freehold and 999 title deeds and gave us 99 year leases. Those villages that were stacked like this are nearer to the city, most of us were farmers with lots of space.

I see people have commented that it's supposed to be "Malay" and not "Malaysians" but I seem so see not change in the description or a correction in a pinned comment, just want to say this as the video might get hate. I am a local Singaporean and this video has been shown to me in school and if it wasn't shown in my country, people will think differently as we already have seen people mistake our country for part of malaysia, you also could be reported for false information.

Most of my angmoh friends wouldn’t accept Malay as a race. Much so as Chinese. To them our race is Asian and we are Singaporeans. Chinese/Indian is a nationality, so is Malaysian. It took them a while to realised that I am not from China and they blamed me for saying I am “Singaporean Chinese” which confuses people and make them think that I am like a dual national. All of them refuse to accept that I am a “Singaporean Chinese”, they say you are Asian, you are Singaporean, you shouldn’t tell people you are Chinese because you are not and all that do is confusing people. Oh wells!

I think he's going by average sales prices. Some comments are stressing on BTO prices. BTO may be cheaper but majority of of public housing is still from resale market. And not to mention the wait for the BTO forces the home "owner" to rent for years before moving in. Rental prices are sort of proportionate to resale markets. In the long term, and based on current market trends, a BTO unit may cost just as much if not more than a resale unit. The only exception is the Balance flats(units) where the wait is shorter but you trade off choice of floor level/storey, location. Not to mention that balance flats are even more finite.

Quite a bit of mistakes. CPF, not CTF. Malays, not Malaysian (who are citizen of Malaysia). and the chart for the sale price of HDB flats are ridiculously wrong too. You almost triple the cost. For eg, a open market 4 room flat only (meaning its a resale flat) cost around 400 over thousand, not S$1,400,000. and if the flat is new, its even cheaper, around 200 over thousand for 4 room. Suggest more fact research to be conducted if you wish to do a fact video.
