I got out of the mikitary in 1970. I had just inherited $27,000. I seriously considered buying gold with that money. It was $40 an ounce then. Instead , I bought a house, now worth $200,000. But thats only a third of what the gold would have been worth.

The ratio of US stocks/GDP is very high but it is partly due to foreigners investing in US stocks, which is not a bad thing. Also, I am French and the political system here is a mess, the country is becoming impossible to govern and the debt is huge. If France collapses, it may cause the collapse of the euro zone, which might cause a huge flight of capitals to the US.

Thank you Mike. Regarding the P/E ratios you show, which are averages over a certain year's stocks I'm guessing, they don't reflect the recent concentration around the top stocks. Don't you think that dimension is also important, and that it would make current P/E ratios more comparable to the 2000 ones, if not worse? A third dimension showing concentration of stocks would be great to have on that chart.

I follow a handful of people on this platform, only a small handful have meaningful suggestions, the one that makes sense is when the crash occurs, many people will sell assets such as luxury cars and houses to survive hyper inflation. Timing will be everything, using silver to survive may be the only way to get by, I can picture it almost like a black market, leading to direct relationships with farmers and wholesale food providers, whom may well be forced to accept silver as cash, as money may well be worth next to nothing. If and when that happens, it will be a good strategy to have some extra silver and gold to buy higher value items at insanely low prices, then wait for the re-set in currency. In principle you can later sell the houses, or rent them out and head into the future in a financially secure position. I've heard that the gold to silver ratio will narrow massively ( possibly as little as 1:20) and enable those with some extra silver to exchange it for gold, which 'should' hold a higher value and enable one to protect their wealth. I'm somewhat hopeful this is pretty close to how it will pan out. Good luck everyone

Gold has been used for 6000 years and when we look at any nations economic history, we see that gold keeps going up in nominal value compared to their local currencies as "leaders" and money lenders kept diluting the currencies. How many Venezuelan bolivars did it take for 1oz of gold back in 2001 and what is it today? It's a hell of a lot more than $3000/oz.

Hitler started back in the 1930s with taking Saar region, then Austria, then Czechoslovakia and no one did anything to stop him. Putin and possible China will try the same if allowed. Look at how China takes control over strategic waterways with its artificial islands! Weakness and appeasement in the face of Putin, Xi, Kim and the Ayatollah will only encourage them to push further.
