It's the car..... The physics in this game are so much... Average players with great cars can do good. Below average players with great cars can do good. Amazing players with okay cars can do good. Amazing players with great cars can do amazing. Bad players with great cars can do good. Bad players with average cars can do okay. Bad players with bad cars can do bad. Good players with bad cars can do bad. Average players with bad cars can do bad. There's a reason there's a "meta" list in this game. The cars are the skill gap..... People with wheels reign supreme over everyone else. Put a person with a wheel setup in a bad car, they do good..... Ffs when arguably the best player in the game is on the screen talking about how it is, you gotta listen to what he says, I'm sure he actually knows how it is........

Direct mode is too much for me. I was honestly mostly fine with the handling prior to this update anyway, all I really wanted was slight tweaking to the steering response. And the new sliders they added with this update provided just that. The driving is really enjoyable now.

I'm glad they added this new level of customisation to the controls. I have pretty extreme settings, even though I find wheel mode too much and don't feel terribly inclined to move my way into it, and I know I am faster and able to do more. I will be really intrigued to see what the community as a whole does with direct mode

A few months from now, using direct mode and the sliders (max lock and sensitivity) will be much easier so I'm not complaining about the fact that IVT has made a better change with the turning/steering response. Just feels good not having to deal with the delays when turning your car so on and so for. This update will make the game more enjoyable in the long run

7:05 - "But now, I'm faster". This sums it up for me. I'm also not using direct mode in Grand races and I went from averaging winning 1 in 7 races to winning 1 in 4 just in the past week. Found the sensitivity setting (70/60) that fits my style and that's it. I am learning how to use direct mode, but that's a slower process.

I haven’t touched the game too much because of school tests being thrown at me the last couple weeks. I like that they give us the option to mess with the settings and sliders, however due to my exams coming up I don’t think I’ll have the time to experiment with the sliders, meaning I can’t really get better than what I’m already at, which was top 5000 platinum player at the end of the summit. I don’t know if you’ll do this, but sharing the settings of your max lock and sensitivity, I’d really appreciate it

I've really struggled with MOTORFEST on the (30 FPS) XBOX one, managing 1 Platinum and 1 Grand race without a DNF. After adjusting the sliders I scored over 100,000 in all 9 events in the current summit (something I do EVERY WEEK in TC2, but NEVER BEFORE in Motorfest). The downside is that the PLATINUM scores will be HIGHER now as you pointed out, BUT: as long as I'm scoring like I can in TC2 every week I can live with the Motorfest results.

I think direct mode is really fun and learning to use it properly adds innate challenge to the game, which it really needed because before there was no challenge other than do the shortcuts and dumb escape routes you need for platinum, or be a super sweat. now the game has more of an innate challenge if you want it. but for now, summit events where i cant get a good enough time on direct mode, and in grand races i still play in normal mode with high sensitivity.

I noticed the grand races being harder now. I used to be able to place 1st maybe 1 outa 4 races, now this week i got 1st in 1 outa like 15 races. A lot of players got faster. Im using increased sensitivity and feel faster myself, just not as much as some other people.

Before the update I’ve been getting top 10 every grand race sometimes top 3 or 1st place but mostly in bottom top 10 and I would consider myself as a decent skilled player and I didn’t really need the steering sens or direct mode but now with my steering sens I’ve gotten comfortable wit it and I been crushing people and like you said I feel way faster I’ve been getting top 3 damn near every grand race I’ve even ran into a couple pros and keep up with them or I’ve beaten them I’ve always seen myself as a fairly decent player but now I feel like I’m up there

Will direct mode help with the inability to correct oversteer where as soon as the back end comes out, you go to correct, and it’s pure understeer until you nearly stop and get the car straightened out? Or am I missing another setting? Thnx for the content

Nope, we still don't have the wheel mode advantage on gamepads. They just added another wheel mode that works best only on wheels. Otherwise do you really think a 900 degrees rotation angle wheel has the same sensitivity problem with a tiny gamepad? That direct mode is just cheat mode v2.

Nope I have a wheel that I use 98% of the time and i only use controller when i'm sick or don't feel like pulling my 120 rig out of the corner and set up. Has no effect on wheel. Wheel does have this thing called force feedback though and those that was saying we pay to win obviously never experienced that kind of fun when you loose traction or go into a death wobble. Side note: I've had my wheel for about 1yr and a half. Bought it for dirt 5

Agreed, love dm and what they did to allow customization for all sorts or players with the sliders. If u don’t want to loose speed in the corners u have to make sure ur not turning in too much. U still gota take the same clean lines

The game is gorgeous but there’s not enough game modes for PvP. It’s the same progression as the last game . I got the ultimate edition super super cheap many years ago for nine dollars speaking of the predecessor (Crew 2) I like it but grinding out for parts is ridiculous and if you don’t have the legendary parts mainly Nitro Chemist and Scorebreaker you can’t compete. I’ve been searching for free treasure boxes and have gotten one car to search for treasures and loot exploring being my 2020 GT500. It seems to be going ok. The cars are overpriced and yes you can make money but most people will probably find themselves frustrated into getting crew credits. At the end of the day I get it though. (primary example the needed mini cooper for the Hollywood playlist is $230,000in game monies.) Direct mode I haven’t tried yet as the free trial is still on going but I’m conflicted knowing The Grand Race is a mess oftentimes. Summits offer really cool cars but it’s obviously hard to get platinum. I’d only hope for more game modes in the PvP space. The tuning while simplified is more in depth than NFS Unbound I find. Both using sliders and yet I find TCM more complex. That said I’m still unsure and feeling it out during this free play weekend.

The fact is that Crew 2 Proplayers haven't gotten used to Motorfest handling and physics. TC2 and Motorfest handling and Physics are completely different and is not easy, everything affects you so you need to think well what you're going to do. That's why i say pvp playlist mode must be a thing. Summits are boring, the Main Stage system is better.

@@emanuelfigueroa414 You can turn force feedback off though... You have that option, both in your wheel configuration settings, and in-game. The top 1% wheel players *don't use* force feedback for the very reason that it's a hinderance more than a benefit. It’s also not about the physical execration or the skill difficulty of using a wheel, but rather the game physics of what ‘wheel steering’ input allows you to do compared to standard controller steering input. Thankfully with Season 3 update, those differences are now less of an issue as people have the option of decreasing the default limitations of standard controller input or going straight to all the advantages of wheel input steering by switching on direct mode.

I really appreciate the additional controls over the steering input. It makes the controls feel a little more natural without sacrificing the arcade feel of the game. The Crew has always been a cartoony style of racing and that isn't lost by giving players a little more control over how their inputs relate to the car on the screen. I never tried wheelmode or direct mode, I've only adjusted the sensitivity and the max lock and I've seen a noticeable improvement in times and enjoyment.

Ehhhh I dunno about it not making the game easier. I typically sit at about top 7k in the summit. I’m top 900 currently with this… I’m not saying it’s a cheat mode but I’m saying, it definitely makes things easier. When your car actually turns like a car and not like a cardboard box with a rhino sitting on it, the game tends to be easier. I don’t know why y’all pretend like ‘wheel mode’ wasn’t just inherently better. Come on. You’re not being honest. I know there are goobers that sit in the chat and say you guys are cheating… but you wouldn’t use it, if it simply added extra difficulty and there was no actual benefit you wouldn’t use it. It’s not a cheat. But it does make the game substantially easier.

No offense, but this is just wrong. It is MUCH harder to use than stock settings. I’m talking specifically about direct mode (not the steering sensitivity). It does not make it easier, it just unlocks more potential for pace. The driver has to be capable of using that extra potential. If they are capable, then there is a definite benefit. It IS faster, but also more difficult.

@@MilitiaGamingCommunity I think you did that thing where you assumed I was taking a shot at you. Again not a shot but you can’t quantifiably prove that it is universally more difficult. Because for every person who says this is too hard how many of them are the types to find a setting that works for them and stick to it no matter what? I would gladly put money on that being the vast majority of them. My point is, this is a very obvious benefit. You just said so yourself, it’s is faster. This is a racing game. The faster you go. The better your times. Which means it’s easier to grab a good time in a race than it would have otherwise been. I hover 7k I’m actually top 900 right now. Right this very second. I’m proud of that. However, did I suddenly get that much better or did this make it easier? Going back to default settings. If I ran all of the events I’d be at about 6800. That’s an unrealistic jump in performance. If someone said you’re lying or you’re cheating. I could totally see that. But I’m using the same cars everyone is using in-fact the vast majority of my pro-settings come from you. The only thing that changed is the introduction of Direct Mode. I’m not an idiot. I’m not gonna proclaim I just got that much better. No. I turned on direct mode and everything changed. Cars have a way more arcadey feeling very close to the floatyness of Crew 2 which I love. This is “The Update That Changed Everything.”

@@Dirgeoftheapparatus From my own experience I also got much better when I started using linear 1:1 steering input, why? Because smooth steering is what feels best to me. It’s what I’m used to and is how I expect games to behave using a controller input. The standard controller input felt like using a keyboard to me, I couldn’t hold a consistent angle in corners like I can with wheel/direct input. So, while the sensitivity of direct mode is a lot higher, if you have the thumb discipline and control and are familiar with smooth-steering from other games, it is a far more natural transition and imo that’s the main reason for such a big improvement. But it won’t be like that for everyone. In fact, I’d say hardly anyone would find that same jump as you did. As most people *do lack* that thumb control that is needed to really utilize and take advantage of the accurate and precise steering control, when it’s also a highly sensitive input. Take using the Tacoma over bumpy terrain for example, or driving the Agera, or avoiding others in Grand Races. Even for the most skilled players, they still have the occasional ‘moments’ where they lose control of the car. That’s because of how sensitive and reactive a mode like direct mode is. It rewards highly (if you have the control) but if you don’t have that thumb discipline and control, it also punishes, and severely so…

@@Tesseract69 I think there is a confusion between me saying it’s easier and the idea that it’s easy. I’m not suggesting anyone can turn on direct mode and instantly hit plat. No I think, a lot of players who already got high gold or plat will turn on direct mode and will find it easier to push themselves higher. I’m not really saying anything different than what was said in the video. People who were good will get better. Easier and Easy are not the same. I just scrolled Reddit and saw a guy saying direct mode has helped him immensely, he always got just shy of platinum he’s 9800 right now. It wasn’t easy for him. But it was easier, right? I just don’t like the idea of saying no this is inherently more difficult because that pushes an idea that you should only try this if you’re already godly at the game when realistically if you try it and can find your comfort spot it may make you better at the game. To say it just makes it harder isn’t true. It made it easier for me. I’m certain it’s made it easier for others. It makes it harder for some not all.

Haven’t participated in a Grand Race yet, too busy doing playlists & the associated challenges plus re racing in my own bought or won customised & upgraded vehicles. I’m sure by the time I enter a Grand Race, it’ll be populated by twits like you get in all online multiplayer games, 5 year olds who can’t drive. Not for me.

thanks trigger, there so muts more in driving a car in motorfest. for sure i learn everyday, and i do good in grand races. now that we are a month 5/6 racing, i think the lvl of driving is beter from all the players. most know the route/ short cutt, and a lot knows what car to drive to win a race.or you and your mates make a vid what car are great, i never be this far ingame if i didn't have this info. now this deathzone comes, and yeah it's beter. for wheel and controller. butt thats all because of your video, and people who makes those vids. thanks for that. also the new mecanics for motorparts, switching and destroying , for ps5 it's new, is a great update from I.T. what i like to see is a faster change in grand races. now it's like 3 times the same kind of race. butt i think this must be like, changing every single race is more fun. also i miss a only bike races, dirt or on road, why are there no boat races? butt manny thanks, also for all those who makes vids from motorfest with pro settings. for me, thats a bigg helping hand. So funny how this all came about from the cry babies complaining about wheel mode shortcuts and resets as the reason they arnt getting platinum. They just made it harder on themselves. This week's summit was easy and I scored in the 4000's when I usually crack 1500 every week. Might actually sweat now insted of spending an hour on summits and chilling for the rest of the week.

Why is people trying their best to justify this wheel mode and direct mode were different before this update you didn't lose much control with wheel mode before this update if it was so harder then you skil competitive players wouldn't download that if it wasn't beneficial to y'all they only changed it after this update to make it even to the console players and the fact is a third party regardless no matter what you say it was a cheat. Because it was never in the game to begin with only your PC players have access so it was a cheap regardless

The wheel input physics have changed in Season 3. As Directmode is designed to replicate wheelmode, it too is affected. I know this from how Directmode felt in the technical test server version of the game where testers were testing and giving feedback on Season 3 updates before the final release of the Season 3 update. As wheelmode is just wheel input emulation but for controller, it too is affected the same. Wheel players have also noticed and said about the different feeling ‘physics’ using wheel in Season 3. Cars feel gripper, with more weight to them. They feel heavier and behave more closely to standard controller input. It’s weird that IVT didn’t announce this anywhere in their Season 3 announcements or even their QoL patch notes as it’s a pretty big change imo. So, I can only guess why they made the change, and my guess is this: 1: To bring wheel input closer to standard controller input, both in terms of feel and to mitigate/lessen the previous advantages wheel input had over standard controller input. 2: To help with input transition familiarity so that standard controller users turning on directmode for the first time, will have an easier transition time compared to the paper weight, floaty, ice driving feeling that Season 2 wheel input had. 3: IVT preference, with how they wanted the players to play the game when using directmode. So that it does look less ‘dramatic’ of a difference to standard controller input. Some extra things to note. Hard lock to hard lock is slower now with wheel input in season 3. Tire grip is increased (which gives a weightier feeling to cars, especially the rear of all cars). The extra tire grip also makes tire scrubbing more punishing. Meaning you can’t full send corners as much now as you could in Season 2 with wheel input. More braking and throttle control is required to lessen tire scrubbing more due to the extra tire grip reducing your corner speed more with even a small amount of tire scrubbing. This was less of an issue with Season 2 wheel input as slight tire scrub was generally faster than braking to not have any tire scrubbing, meaning you could just full send a lot of high speed corners at max throttle. That isn’t possible now. Finally, the combination of slightly slower steering on Season 3 wheel input [which is actually slower than standard controller input when set to 100 sensitivity] also makes ‘flicking’ your car more difficult on Season 3 wheel input compared to Season 2 wheel input.

Respectfully using a wheel at a high level is also a skill thing bro not everyone on wheel is fast I’m friends with plenty of wheel players that lose to control players and struggle to get platinum at summit (sorry for the bad grammar at work rn lol 😂)

I had 190 wins before the update i had no problem with the way it was I LOVED THE GAME BEFORE. I WISH NOTHING CHANGED EXCEPT THE SCRAPPING OF PARTS. I WAS ADDICTED TO GRAD RACING NOW I DONT CARE IF I PLAY OR NOT. Why did they change how my cars drive i spent hours and hours on setting them up now people hit you and your car will FLY OFF THE MAP. I WISH EVERYONE WOULD HAVE SHUT UP AND LEARNED HOW TO PLAY THE GAME....I DID AND NOW IT SUX FOR ME. I was a casual player it was my favorite game not now i hate all my games because they keep changing them

Remember brother it’s not your fault it was the people who had skill issues and just wanted to sweat and win every GR and get platinum on summit and yet they didn’t understand how touchy direct mode will be as a wheel player i hope control players stop trying to copy everything a wheel comes with 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️
