This was the best video on crossing-stepping I have seen! The lead foot step back makes it so much easier to manage your weight distribution on the board. I am still doing the little shuffle at the nose of the board, so it continues to be a work in progress. I am a member of your website and will have to check out your full tutorial. @@KookSurfing yeah epic idea!! There’s a comment somewhere here as well about how this step back translates directly to longboard skateboarding! I don’t have a tonne of experience in that department but if you watch ‘longboard dancing’ they seem to do something super similar - all about creating space on the board to fit the steps in properly - let me know how it goes, yewww!!!

great vid, having come from shortboards and mid-lengths with the wider stance, this narrowing step back will definitely help. Hopefully it may overcome my habit of shuffling too, muscle memory from years of playing basketball (defensive slide)

No worries at all! Stoked you like it and I hope its helpful! Haha, well I'm using the DJI Action 4 - but that's not just the camera audio unfortunately... I exported the audio from the clips and ran it through an AI tool which clears out all the external noise (wind and water) then I ran that audio clip over the original which I placed at a much lower level (-21dBs) - I wish it were easier haha but kind of stoked on how it turned out for this video! All the other ones I've done with just the raw footage is harder to listen to I think

It’s funny but I just realised that when you ‘cross step carve’ on a longboard (skateboard) you always have to do this exact first step. But I haven’t translated that to a routine in surfing so 🙏🏽
