It is absolutely nuts they didn't switch a LONG time ago. For every person who does not care, there are ten new guys who it does make a difference. Pulled out my anthem the other day and there I was fishing for an adapter :/ Wound up pulling one off my old SG. There are some other things that annoy me, not to mention 1990 wants that website back. :/ Id be thrilled if Badger (an American company) could reclaim a dominant position in the market.

Bro I know it’s crazy how a company’s has such a well known name in the market amd they just choose to be mediocre it’s like why wouldn’t you want 100 brushes and then 500$ brushes of our quality like iwata and steenback it’s baffling to me too specially cuz it’s made in the USA

I live about an hour away from Badger. I’ve been there, and Ken has been very helpful. I used to paint fishing lures for one of the biggest Muskie guys around. I love the Omni

buying a quick disconnect for a couple bucks from Amazon solved any connect problems. Now I can use Badger , H&S and others with one hose and fitting.....

I paint miniatures, and have 5 airbrushes I use. An Iwata HP-CS, stock .35mm needle, that's my go to, general purpose airbrush. A Neo for Iwata CN converted to a .5mm needle, I use it for spraying heavy stuff. When it had a .3mm needle in it, it was my primary airbrush until I got the HP-CS. A SOTAR 20/20-2F, for detail work. I knew I'd need an adaptor, so I ordered it with one. I have a few complaints with it. It's my newest. A cheap Master Airbrush that came with my current compressor that gets stuff I won't spray through a nice airbrush, like clearcoat. If I trash it I'm out nothing, and it doesn't have to spray well. and Finally a Harbor Freight double action siphon feed that gets used for terrain, this was my original airbrush, on a different compressor, and it was a painful experience. I agree that Badger needs to get on board with the standard 1/8 fitting, looking at it from the standpoint of someone that got into airbrushing on the cheap. $100 to $150 will buy you an airbrush and compressor off Amazon with everything you need, and it's actually not a bad compressor. The airbrush in the kit is usually pretty bad though. The first upgrade most people do is buy themselves a better airbrush, and the lower end Badgers are priced right to take advantage of this market, but they don't fit.

I agree it defeats the lower price if you have to go out and buy adapters and such. Not to mention a beginner would not know this beforehand.

I also had an encounter with Ken. Nice guy. Took them over 4 weeks to fix my badger. Last time I called, Ken got pissed. He under lots of pressure I guess.

I just got a set of the 155 Anthems with the 1/8 adapters. Since I have iwatas and hoses I wasn’t going to switch over to the hose badger uses. I want to be like Mike.

As a beginner this was a bad first experience for me as I bought a badger and could not use it until I sorted out the air fitting issue. I, of course,eventually sorted this out and still use a couple Badgers but it was a bad false start. I just don’t see this in any way as a selling point so I think it at least seems like a bad business choice. Only angle I can see is to sell more product through “attachments”. I hope this is not the reason because I think most people are smarter than that and in the end, less customer satisfaction and less brushes sold… imo.

I’m having the same problem. What is the fitting even called, what’s the sizes to go from a Badger or Paasche hose to an Iwata brush ?
@mackitraz5072
@mackitraz5072 Жыл бұрын
While I don't think you're wrong about it being more convenient to have the more common fitting. There's really no excuse if you have a quick disconnect attachment. You can get a badger disconnect super easy on amazon among other places, once you have that, it makes it no different than any other brush.

I’ve used the Badger Patriot & I’d own one but , that connection deal was the game breaker for me. I just bought another Iwata because life has enough hassles, why do i want another one doing what I do to relax ? Do you hear us Badger?

I think one of the reasons that Badger and Paasche use a different thread is that they both have been around almost 100 years (Paasche has been around since 1904!) The "new comers" and imports (Badger and Paasche are both U.S. made) have Chosen to use a British standard thread. So my question is why don't non-U.S. companies importing for the U.S. market use a U.S. "standard?" (Flame suit on ;)) Finding adapters for the Badger or Paasche isn't that difficult and the Badger male quick connect fits the Iwata hose fitting just fine. The Paasche male seems to be slightly larger than the inexpensive Chinese hose fitting.

paasche maybe 100 years, badger about 50 years now, Iwata 96 years... In that time they have all gone thru different size fittings. 1/8 would technically be a japanese standard as iwata was the one to first adopt and standardize it. non US companies changing thread to what exactly? Badger and Paasche both have different threads 🤷‍♂️ Finding the correct adapters is not all that easy as there thread is different to anything at the hardware store. I can buy a 1/8 quick disconnect with 10 plugs for the same price as one adapter and plug for badger... I believe you completely missed the mark. Its a barrier of entry for alot of people. Its a barrier for expansion for others. Its a simple problem, most people wont care, I have 12 badger airbrushes so I do care.

@@MikesBrush I do understand your frustration. I was just playing Devils Advocate. I own 2 Badgers, 3 Paaschs, a Creos and an Iwata. I currently use a compressor from TPC Global (Master) but also have 2 compressors with the U.S. standard 1/4" outlet nipple. I work in a hobby shop that has been selling Badger for all most 50 years and had never seen a 1/8" thread on a airbrush or compressor until about 10 years ago (people buying Harbor Freight compressors.). Spraygunner sells Badger airbrush to 1/8" hose adapters for $3.75, 1/4" to 1/8" compressor fittings for $3.50 and Paasche airbrush to 1/8" hose adapters for $4.00. I do enjoy watching your airbrush reviews by the way. Please keep up the great videos, lots of good information in them.

I generally use iwata and spraygunner had a sale on Badger. So I bought a couple. And I was definitely wondering why they don't use 1/8..... they spray great but it definitely is a hassle buying the adapters.
