Which of these reasons could you relate to? Let me know in the comments!

This is very accurate. Been in banking nearly 13 years and can certainly relate to all of these, especially the red tape.

Its hard to work in a bank because there are so many products/services and it is highly regulated. The positive side is you will learn a lot.

That’s true, it’s not for everyone.

I am considering a career in the banking industry, but I am unsure if I am making the right move. I have had experience working with the public but I don't find it fulfilling, as an introvert. I was hoping there are other entry level banking jobs beside the customer-facing roles, are there any? Would any one know? Your videos have painted pictures in my head as to what the banking environment will look and feel like. It sounds kinda scary. Based on your level of communication, you would not seem to have any problems navigating this complex enviroment. What advice would you give to learners of this industry? I also don't understand why you want to get out of the banking industry when you already have the skills to adapt to the environment.

Having the skills is one thing, but finding the work fulfilling & meaningful and wanting to do it, is another thing. The environment might feel intimidating to some people, but for other people it's very exciting. The fact that you feel that it sounds scary is a piece of valuable information! That feeling might tell you something about yourself and what you don't like about the industry. In any case, there's no harm in trying out a job in banking, because only if you experience it first hand will it become clear to you (if it's for you or not). There are actually plenty of banking jobs that might be better suited for introverts. E.g. working in the back office, in operations, in accounting, in strategy. Although keep in mind that the larger the corporation, the more you will need to spend lots of time working with other people. But the intensity of interaction will be less than with customer-facing roles. I hope that helps a bit! All the best.

I might not choose banking. It depends on if the other job chooses me. I have worked in a bank for about a year and each week I felt I was losing a piece of who I am.

Multiple Careers, if you was offered a high level position in banking, would you take it?
@MultipleCareers Жыл бұрын
Banking wasn't the right industry for me, so I didn't want to waste another year being a goldfish in salt water :). The position wouldn't matter to me as it doesn't bring fulfillment.

I get roughly $.50 an hour more per year and I’m not gonna say what industry I’m in imagine keeping up with inflation

@@MultipleCareers Me too. I think I will likely end up in sales because I have a heavy background in that. It just tends to be where I end up no matter where I go.

I am in banking for 6 years and its not for everyone doing almost same things everyday in a complex environment. Its a very dynamic sector also. I am questioning myself is it for me? Might be might not...unsure...i studied business
@MultipleCareers3 жыл бұрын
Good thing you're questioning that, perhaps it's not for you? In an case there are millions of other things that you could do with a business degree.

Girl you are full of it. Most people do not like their jobs or enjoyed what they did, but they had to make a living to support their family. Maybe they were good at what they did. There were not many other jobs to earn the same salary. Perhaps you don't have a family and don't have any responsibilities. You would think different if you are married. Lastly, what you save is more important than what you earn. .

You are making a lot of assumptions about my life which are all incorrect. I appreciate discussion but certainly not your tone. Of course it is not easy to leave your job and take risk. But staying in a job in which you wilt away will also have negative externalities on your health and relationships. One long-term effect is that it can turn one to become bitter and resentful. That is why I encourage anyone who truly doesn't like their job to leave it. There are many other possibilities to make a living. Sure it has to be planned and prepared well, and precautions have to be made. It is not easy and requires sacrifice. Many people have changed their careers and with that improved their lives overall. But in the end, everyone must make their own decision. If it is not for you then you can stay. Wishing you all the best.
