I'm hoping to be come a project manager in the construction industry. I want to start my own business, but I don't know about being my own general contractor. Are there businesses in the industry that provide specifically project management to general contractors? Or is the standard method for GCs to hire their own PMs? Great video as always, keep them coming!
@KienenKoga4 жыл бұрын
More so that the contractors manage their own PMs. There are other companies than manage the contractors but they work more on the owner’s side so you’re not really always in the middle of the building action. RLB is one for instance.

Hey man! Nice video. Right now I am studying structural engineering for my bachelor degree. I was thinking about to do master in construction managment, so I could have the management skills and the more technical skills to. My only question is, if I should rather start working in the construction industry for more experience after my bachelor or have a masters degree in construction management.
@KienenKoga3 жыл бұрын
I push experience in the field over the degree. You’ll learn much more and you’ll get paid instead of paying money to learn. Plus you see if you really want to be part of the industry and can make a career change if need be without wasting money on a masters. You can learn mostly everything on the job in construction.

What are the chances of becoming a construction engineer without going to college?
@jonsfoster2 жыл бұрын
Unless you have prior experience doing engineering work under an engineer, there’s a very slim chance you’ll get a job as an “engineer” without some degree pertaining to engineering. You could technically work your way up from field grunt to become a construction inspector that has similar duties, but most states won’t allow anyone to perform “engineering services” unless they are board certified or are working under the direction of someone who is. If you were to move into a construction inspector role, you’d most likely be getting paid much less than a construction engineer with an engineering degree or a degree in general. Check with your state’s board of engineers to confirm the process for becoming a state certified engineer. The education and experience requirements differ by state for licensure.
@haidermoh.99373 жыл бұрын
Is construction engineering the same as structural engineering? And what licenses did you have to get as an engineer?
@KienenKoga3 жыл бұрын
Great questions. No, construction engineering deals more with the actual build of the project, how it gets done, sequenced, etc. structural engineering is more of the design aspect of it and actually determining how the architect’s vision can actually work structurally. For example like in a lego set, the structural engineer will make the instructions, and the construction engineer will follow those instructions and build it. For me, no licenses are required!

In which area of Civil Engineering there is more Money. Currently I AM in final Year. And wanted to make my Career in structure engineering. But I sometimes get dissapointed by searching on KZbin that structure Engineers are get paid very less compared to Software engineers
@KienenKoga4 жыл бұрын
Awesome question Himanshu, for me personally I was never interested or passionate about software engineering so even if it pays more, I couldnt see myself spending most of my life doing something I didn’t enjoy. From what ive seen, construction engineering pays the most (if you work in contracting) but it also seems the most stressful. Having a civil engineering degree opens a lot of doors for you that all can create decent financial opportunities for you, focus on what kind of work you actually enjoy over the money. The money will come 🤙
